Takes place before ep 1 and after the disassembly drones landed on Copper-9
Violence and gory stuff D:
A bit uncomfy in some scenes
Proofread ✖J charged forward with blades where her hands usually were, slicing wildly. There was a vibrant glowing 'X' on her visor, sharp teeth forming a cruel smile. She laughed, cutting the blade through the bodies of worker drones like it was a task a five year old could do. She had a lot of weight on her shoulders being the leader of her squad at nineteen.
V had been the leader originally, but gifted the leadership to J as she thought J was more capable. While J appreciated the gift and the power it gave her, it was a lot of responsibility. Killing workers eased the stress, even if it was part of her work. She loved her job. The screams were comforting noises, reminding her she had power and was in control. V was impressive as well, ruthlessly tearing apart workers with her claws.
J was holding a worker down and biting into its arm when she got distracted. V was just so beautiful. J watched in awe as she dragged her claws down her victim and stopped right above their pounding heart, cutting their chest open and tearing the heart out to eat it while laughing. That laugh was more beautiful than the sound of worker drones screaming and begging for mercy. J felt warm watching V rearrange the worker drone's internal workings like some kind of gory jigsaw puzzle.
Getting distracted was a horrible mistake, to say the least.
The worker beneath her had grabbed a sharp piece of debris lodged in the snow while she wasn't looking, and then drove it into her side. J growled, turning her attention back to the worker drone. It ripped the sharp object out of her side and drove it into her back where J finally felt overwhelmed by the pain and collapsed onto her unwounded side, curling into a ball in the snow and breathing heavily as oil stained the snow.
The worker slashed at her again and again and-
A shot of bright light.
The worker's face melted, a hole in their head. V stood, her arm extended with a plasma canon equipped at the end. Her chest was heaving and she growled lowly. V took a deep breath, shaking off her anger and rushing to J.
J scrambled to her feet and scratched the back of her neck with an oil covered hand. She was lucky her clothes were black like her oil- easier to hide the wounds. Her tail swung behind her as energetically as she could manage right now. Everything hurt. She smiled and crossed her arms with a chuckle, holding back a wince at the pain moving gave her.
"I had that, y'know." J shook her head fondly, but her head pounded with pain.
V huffed, rolling her eyes and stepping closer. "You're hurt."
J narrowed her eyes, scared of showing weakness. "I am perfectly fine, thank you."
V moved closer and J held her breath. They were so close together... J's eyes widened and she knew she should step back, but wanted to step closer; so, she stayed still. J looked V up and down, not sure if she was trying to size V up or check her out. Her mind was so foggy right now and everything was a sharp pain.
V made an annoyed noise between a laugh and a growl. "You obviously aren't." She threw her arms around in a wide gesture. "Let me help you!"
J's arms fell to her sides and her demeanor softened. She looked to the ground. V was really willing to help her. She cared. J was worth something. J was worth more than just a kill count to the company.
No.
No, no, no.
Weak.
J folded her arms again. "I can heal myself." She hissed through the pain. "That is if I were hurt, I could."
