Uzi and N broke into the prom, yelling something about a fiend or something. Thad just watched, feeling like there was a certain calmness to the situation. Relief.

He had considered N some heartless monster at first, and over time he was less suspicious, but this really just proved to him that N was a good guy. He looked at Uzi like she was the only drone in the room worth breathing the same air.

Thad almost chuckled, remembering Uzi venting her frustrations to him back when she came back after her dad "grounded" her. Uzi was upset because N had told her something about a crush he had on V. Thad felt like something was off in learning the two weren't dating. It just felt like it would be so natural for the two to be a pairing.

Uzi and N looked around in confusion, V on the stage blushing as Lizzy crowned her prom queen. Thad laughed quietly, watching Lizzy blush after V winked at her. Doll grabbed Lizzy by the arm and dragged her out of the center of the school where prom was being hosted, the double doors flapping behind them. Thad curiously followed and peeked his head out the door to see Doll having Lizzy pinned against the wall.

"Just a few days ago you cal led them monsters! You agreed with me. You called N a monster, so how come you're blushing over that one?" Doll huffed.

"Doll! What're you doing?" Lizzy's eyes darted around nervously, still flustered. Thad just watched in amusement.

Someone rushed out of the door beside him, a flash of red followed by a nanite-acid tail. V had run out after Lizzy. She looked pissed.

"Hey. Cut that out. I was going to ask her to a dance. What makes you think you can drag her out here?" V growled, much to Thad's surprise. V seemed much less stable than N, so Thad had assumed she actually came here for the purpose of killing everyone.

"Well, she was my friend first. Mine." Doll pushed off the wall, walking to V and looking her over. Lizzy just watched and Thad ducked back into the prom room, not wanting to witness a fight. High school was weird.

Thad shrugged it off, turning his attention back to the drones dancing around the room. N and Uzi were standing by a table, talking in hushed whispers that Thad couldn't hear. Uzi awkwardly poured them drinks, handing a cup to N who took it with a look of awe. Thad wondered if he'd ever had punch. There was a note labeling the punch as purely decorative, but anyone who'd been around long enough would know that was just the teacher trying to keep the punch to himself.

Thad walked closer to the pair, trying to hear them. He kept close to the walls still. When he was finally within audio range, what heard wasn't at all what he expected to hear. He had expected to hear light flirting from Uzi, but instead he was met with a more serious conversation.

"Aren't you worried about V?" Uzi swirled the punch in her cup, looking downtrodden.

"Not anymore. " N shrugged.

Uzi looked up from the punch. "Why not?"

N laughed. "Well a few things, actually. Mainly that she never looked at me like how you do. She isn't worth trying to chase." He paused momentarily to set down the punch and grin. "Also, she has her eyes set on someone here."

Thad almost tolled over laughing, remembering what he saw out in the halls. He stayed quiet though, wanting to hear what would happen next.

"What? No way! Who?" Uzi looked more shocked than Thad had ever seen her. She looked relaxed.

"You know the worker with the pink eyes, blonde hair, cheerleader vibe, and pink bow?" N made hand gestures as he described Lizzy.

"Lizzy?" Uzi doubled over laughing. "Yeah, they're much a match made in hell. Thought she was with Doll though?" Uzi shrugged off the last part, smiling at N. "How'd you figure that out?"

"Came back to the pod one day and saw V doodling Lizzy, there were hearts drawn around and 'V+pretty worker' scrawled into the hearts." N hid the amusement in his voice poorly.

"V didn't even know her name!" Uzi once again doubled over laughing.

"Yeah," N smiled, "that was after we came back here on good terms without V. After that, as you saw in the announcement V was prom queen, she'd been sneaking out to hand out with her." N shook his head with a smile that could only be described as pure and silly.

"I never knew V was so soft inside." Uzi commented, probably not thinking too much about what she said.

"Me neither." N sighed, picking up the cup and taking a sip while l lightly drumming his fingers across it. Thad winced, knowing that had to hurt. N set the cup down on the table again, his hand still wrapped around it.

Uzi put her cup down and reached out to put her hand over N's on the cup. There was a genuine softness to it that surprised Thad. They really went well together. Thad was in for a lot of surprises tonight, apparently.

"I know, I do." Uzi whispered, Thad barely picking up on it. "We went over this though, and we have each other now."

N smiled weakly, wiping at his visor with his other hand. "You had a shot with Thad though. And he's just an all around neat guy."

Uzi chuckled, sounding hurt. "No. I didn't. And that's in the past now, okay? I'm pretty sure Thad is aromantic or something anyways. He's never dated or even talked about a crush. Besides," Uzi leaned forward with a mischievous grin, "I didn't fall for him nearly as hard as I fell for you."

Thad blinked again, surprised. He had no idea Uzi liked him in such a way. He wasn't sure if he was aromantic, he just didn't feel like he needed a partner. He had friends, and that was enough for him. He never felt that passionate burn that was romantic love, and that was perfectly fine. 

Speaking of passion, N and Uzi had created a passionate tension to the air. Thad felt uncomfortable watching the two step closer together and decided to give them their space.

He left the burning passionate look in their eyes behind and settled for chilling on the dance floor instead, his true love: physical activity.
