I gathered both of my shoes by their laces, tying them together.

There was a lot of risk I was placing my trying out this idea of mine. The shoes have a distinct scent that belonged to me so it would attract his attention away from me and it was heavy enough for me to throw it at a good distance.

Those were the only facts that convinced me to go through with it. Also the fact that there is nothing else that I could do and I didn't want to stay up in a three about 9 feet above ground persuaded me to take this risky plan.

If everything went well, the shoes will land a good 5 kilometers away and catch Alpha Malachi's attention who will go after it while I jump down and sprint in the opposite direction. I would end up at my parents house unscathed and see that everything is alright, grab a few ropes and cut myself with silver. Later, tie myself to a tree and wait for someone to find me.

The gel was starting to wear off and I'm sure it would all come off in an hour so having someone catch my scent wouldn't be hard. The catch is that if I'm not fast enough, they might catch me even before I reach my parents house or they discover that I've been in my parents' house.

Another risk is that, Alpha Malachi wouldn't turn towards the direction the shoes will be headed but instead turn towards the direction it came from and reveal my position. Or he would spot me jumping off and tackle me. That would be a very tricky situation to get out of.

Being barefooted in the woods doesn't settle a comforting feeling with me either. Just thinking of the tiny stones and twigs that would poke the bottom of my feet alone made me feel uncomfortable but if I could get away, then sacrifice I must.

I raised my hand, the one that held the shoes, and pull it back before releasing it. It went flying as far as I wanted it to and I was about to push off the branch I was on except, he didn't pay a single attention towards and led all my efforts down the drain.

I huffed and let a curse escape my mouth. I guess I'll have to do it the other way. I jumped down despite the huge distance I was from the floor and my feet landed on the ground, my body following it as my ankle twisted because it was unable to withstand the impact.

I grunted as my arm hit the ground hard. This wasn't the way I had imagined my fall. A swift and graceful descend with my feet touching the ground softly was what I had in mind. Also, I was able to get up and run which was something I was unable to do.

In the midst of pain, Alpha Malachi moving towards me didn't register in my brain so when I felt his hand on mine, my body automatically reacted to the sparks by jumping slightly. My body had successfully move away from him but at a painful cause as turning away caused my ribs to move.

I winced and reminded myself to never go near anything above 6 feet. I think I might have broken my ribs my landing on it. Curious, I took a peek at him from the corner of my eyes and had an urge to giggle and swoon over him.

"When I said come out," he said in a rough voice as he gripped my arms, trying to lift me off the ground, "I didn't mean for you to jump down from a tree over 9 feet tall."

He carefully helped me into a sitting position, letting my back rest on a bark of a tree while I clutched my stomach. "I'm sorry. It wasn't my plan to try and get killed but what choice did I have?"
