I gave into the demands and pleadings of my wolf to go to the forest today.
It was normal for her to nag me to go to the forest everyday but today she's been more persistent than usual. For the sake of keeping our relationship in the 'tolerable' level, I would sometimes give in but not every time. Despite her wish sounding very simple and easy to fulfill, I knew better that it was more than that but she still hadn't say a word about it until now.
Others would shift to go to the forest but me? I would walk there and once I reached, I would just continue walking but just aimlessly. I rarely shifted because my wolf simply didn't allow me to and in return I didn't give her any control over my actions.
Today, I didn't want to walk without a destination in mind and risk getting lost. There was a few places in the forest that I could go to. Recalling the last time I had been to the tree house, it was okay to say it fit in the 'abandoned' category. Perhaps it's time to change that so I walked into the forest just like any other day but with a destination in mind.
I couldn't ignore the nagging thought that heading to the tree house is part of a plan my wolf have in store for me. She was starting to put her plan in action and had implanted the thought of going to the tree house in my mind without me knowing.
Nevertheless, I still headed towards the tree house despite the alarm bells sounding in my head. I was curious to see what she has in store for me. Once I reached, I looked around and saw that everything was still as it used to be.
Tugging the rope down, I side-stepped to allow the ladder to fall down. I glance up before stepping on the ladder, looking to see if there was anyone waiting for me on top. After realising there's no one there, I tested the strength of the ladder although I know my wolf wouldn't go to the extend to kill me.
I stayed up in the tree house for about an hour and still, nothing extraordinary happened. I killed time by clearing the nests left by other animals and dusted the few furniture we had here. The whole time, I had allowed myself to be distracted by small meaningless movements and went overboard on being cautious.
Looking out the small window I had crafted, I sighed in disappointment as the ersatz sun was making its move. Knowing that it didn't really matter to my parents what time I arrived home, I still descended the rope ladder to start my way back home.
Usually, I wouldn't encounter anyone walking their human form or walking in groups but today was an exception. A guy had his hands wrapped tightly around a small bony wrist that belonged to a girl who was trying her best to stop him from dragging her.
I wanted to help her, feeling pity from the constant tears rolling down her face and her pleas, but he had slapped her insetad. Going against my wishes, I stayed in my place and just watched him raise his hand against her over and over again in attempts to shut her up.
The better part of me knows that if I were to step in now, it would only make things even worst than it already is. She could end up getting more serious injuries because I tried to help her or he could use his strength on me instead, both leaving me helpless to save her.
Also, it wasn't abnormal to see guys hitting their mates in public and same when the gender's are reversed. It was common to see and a law was just passed that anyone who interferes with a mate's actions will be sentenced to physical heavy labour for a year.
This was something I hoped wouldn't happen to me. If it ever came to this point, I'll force myself to leave him no matter how hard it will be or what consequences will be laid for me. Although the chance of this happening is 80% because of my wolf, I couldn't force myself to not be hopeful.
"Stop," someone commanded, attracting my attention.
A guy stood opposite from me but though the distance between us was great, I knew that he was ranked as the guy stopped hitting her and released her too. The guy bowed to the ranked guy and left, signaling the girl to follow him which she did.
Now with me and him only 80 meters apart and the mist was beginning to clear, I found out why my wolf had been so persistent on getting me out of the house. She had planned it all out and I had played right into her trap again.
