I stumbled with my footing as I pushed open the door with my body weight.

I felt his glare on me as his hands roughly grabbed my arms to pull me up. Once I was on my stable feet, he let go of the tight grip he had on my arms and stepped away from me. There was a shiny black car in front of us but I knew it was for him.

"Walk in a straight line when you're in the woods. You should be able to find the academy once you've reached the edge of the woods," he said as he walked towards the car. "Kaemon and a few other guards will be following you so you wouldn't get lost."

He took the white handle and pulled the car the door open. "Do you have any questions?"

I looked down on the floor and shook my head, not wanting to make him angry. "Good. I'll be waiting for the news of you reaching the academy," he said and slipped into the car.

As I heard the engine rev, I lifted my head and watched it drive off. I looked around and saw a few guys waiting near the woods which I assume is the guys Alpha Malachi ordered to watch over me. With a sigh, I hitched my small backpack higher and grudgingly walked into that direction.

My heavy steps thumped throughout the forest whereas the guards made no sound at all. One look at their face told me much; I couldn't look at their faces for more than 5 seconds. It was made clear that they wouldn't talk to me.

The silence made me think and when I think, I tend to over think. I couldn't stop myself from letting my thoughts wander from the brown soil and the yellow leaves beneath the soles of my shoes to sharp pains I didn't feel before.

From the pains, it traveled to what ifs and putting myself into someone else's shoes. Eventually it fell onto the subject of my dad and I closed my eyes. However, I couldn't shroud myself in the darkness for long as his face would pop out and I would react by opening my eyes to get rid of the image.

But opening my eyes didn't do any good as I had triggered the memories. Soon, I found myself hearing his voice, yelling, taunting and cursing me for bringing bad luck to him. My body would occasionally shiver as I felt his hands on my skin even though I knew well he was dead.

It wasn't my dad's voice that I could hear. Somehow, it the midst of his screams, I would catch silent sobs that register to me as my mom as she mumbles words that sink a knife into my heart. The agonizing howls of a certain wolf would ring in my ear, accompanying the voices like a soundtrack.

My thoughts got out of my control and it affected my breathing. I had to blink a couple of times because my vision started to blur as I started to feel lightheaded. I become consciously aware of the weight of my leg as I dragged it across the soil, leaving traces of the soil on my shoes.

I would get so caught up with the overwhelming feelings and find myself leaning in a direction. Only when I was about to fall, I snapped out of the trance. Every single senses of mine were heightened; I could hear my heart pumping at a fast rate, my bones shifting with every movement I made and my muscles pulling and contracting as the bones moved.

The words, give up, rang loud in my mind and I was so tempted to give in. My head throbbed as my knees shook, encouraging my to let go. It was my father's words, calling me weak and useless, that kept me going; the want to proof him wrong was the only not physical burning I felt.
