The Line-up.

Leah's POV:

In all honesty, I don't think I slept much last night. I ended up calling all my family for the rest of the afternoon and watched a film to try and calm my nerves with my mum. Jacob got home about 8pm, and when i told him, she jumped on me and screamed. I was too excited to even function last night, and before i knew it, it was 3am and i was still crying to my best friend, Millie. Millie and I met in the under 18's Arsenal Academy, but she later decided football wasn't for her in the long run, however we had stayed in contact ever since. She was my home body from when i was 10, and we still saw each other every week. She was so happy for me.

I heard my alarm go about 8am. I went to go punch it, before I realised why I had to get up, and i immediately ran out of my room, straight into the bathroom to have a shower. In all honestly, it was the most half-hearted shower i ever had. I just wanted to be sat with Sarina in her office on the grounds. I pulled my hair into a slick back ponytail, and put on a sleek, nude blazer with a black top and jeans. I wanted to make a good impression for Sarina, without her thinking i thought of her more as royalty than my manager and coach.

I hopped onto the train about 9, ready for my journey to Dartford. I'd been here a couple times, so I knew my way around okay. As soon as the train arrived, I leapt off and flagged down a taxi to take me to Sarina. This was really it.

Sarina took me to her office, where we sat at a desk and spoke for a while. She just told me her basic things such as being on time, being positive, and being a home body for everyone in the team. I knew I could do that, easy. I'm Leah Williamson, i'm very cute. Before I knew it, It was time for the squad announcement at 1pm. Sarina showed me the squad image before it went live, and oh my goodness was this an incredible team.

2021-2022 Lionesses Line Up:

Leah Williamson (C), Ellen White, Jill Scott, Lucy Bronze, Keira Walsh, Ella Toone, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Beth Mead, Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway, Fran Kirby, Millie Bright, Rachel Daly, Bethany England, Mary Earps, Hannah Hampton, Ellie Roebuck, Nikita Parris, Jess Carter, Alex Greenwood, Chloe Kelly... and Jordan Nobbs. Great.

Although the team was incredible, I wasn't so sure about training alongside my ex-girlfriend. Jordan and I dated publicly for a year before breaking things off. We both were just different people, and in all honesty, she fell out of love and broke my heart. She'll regret that.

Sarina snapped me out of my thoughts, as she announced to me that she needed to publish it onto the official lionesses website. I passed her the laptop, and waited anxiously. Before i could speak, I felt my phone vibrating non stop. Sarina nodded at me to have a look, and as soon as I opened twitter, it was plastered all over my screen. Sarina looked over my shoulder and smiled.

Have you seen? Leah Williamson will captain the Lionesses to victory this year, under new manager Sarina Weigman.

It didn't feel real until I saw this all over twitter. I read the comments, and I was shocked to see the support. There was the odd comment about how I didn't deserve it most, but i couldn't let those opinions destroy my happiness.

Sarina thanked me for my time, before giving me a new shirt and asking me to take a few pictures for her for the lionesses' Instagram page. Of course, i said yes, i raced to put my new England shirt on, and posed for a few pictures.

After that, I headed home and jumped straight into bed. Lionesses camp started in a week, which didn't give me long to comprehend what the fuck has just happened to my life, but i knew it was going to be amazing, no matter the outcome.
