POV: Sam
I walked into the office with a bounce in my step. I was determined to not let anything ruin my day.
Last night with Kelly was amazing. So much hot sex and love making.
We eventually got up and had dinner...naked and then had sex again. We woke up in the middle of the night and made love and then again in the shower as we got ready to start the day this morning. I couldn't get enough of her.
I walked into the kitchen to get some water and I found Brian and another agent, Lisa.
"Macallan, you look like the cat that got the cream. You're even whistling. It must have been a great night." She teased and I chuckled.
"I'm a gentleman Lisa, I don't kiss and tell, but I'll say this...I am the proverbial cat." I moved my hands in a mind blown gesture and we laughed as she walked out leaving me with Brian.
I opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water. I walked towards the door when Brian blocked my way.
"Come on Mac. Are you really going to ignore me like we're in kindergarten?"
"Brian, I'm in a good mood. Don't spoil it for me. Move." I warned him.
"Our friendship and partnership have to count for something. Just give me 5minutes to explain."
"You screwed up our partnership because you wanted to brown-nose Jackson. Then proceeded to shit on our friendship when you didn't give me a heads-up or ask me if I was doing anything about what I shared with you. So no, you do not get 5 minutes you get 5 seconds to move out of my way."
"I had to do it."
"You had to almost ruin Kelly's life. She'll probably need therapy for what she went through." There goes my good mood.
"I was desperate for a win Mac, I wasn't thinking straight. I saw a quick win and I figured I'd take it. You haven't even known her for that long."
I laughed in disbelief. "At whose expense must that win be? You couldn't talk to me beforehand instead of running to Jackson first?"
"I fucked up okay. I'm trying to apologize."
"You did fuck up. I thought 10 years of friendship meant something, clearly I was wrong."
We stood for a few seconds before I walked past him and went back to my desk.
The rest of the morning went by with my head buried in paperwork. Brian has steered clear of me which I should be happy about but I'm not.
We've never fought like this. I missed my friend and partner but I can't just sweep his betrayal under the rug.
We have to talk it out at some point but today is not that day.
"Mac let's go get lunch." Lisa said sitting on my desk. Registering my confusion she added, "I need to talk to you."
"Okay. Lead the way." I gestured with my hand and followed her to the coffee shop across the street.
I ordered a coffee and club sandwich and she did the same.
We sat down with our food at a table in the corner.
"They make great coffee." She sipped her cappuccino.
"You're stalling Lisa. Why am I here?"
"We're having lunch." She smiled.
"I know you better than that Lisa. Out with it."
"Fine. I saw the tension between you and Smith this morning and I figured the rumours were true. So I thought..."
"What rumours?" I cut her off.
She looked at me with hesitation before speaking.
"Well, word is you were taken off the task force because you have a conflict of interest and you chose a girl over doing your job. Apparently Smith came forward with the information you withheld because it affected your girlfriend."
