POV: Kelly
Sam spent the last 2 days taking care of me. It was sweet but I am all sweetened out. I was ready to go back to my house. I needed to speak with Sheila so we can debrief. I need to go and see Cynthia, her messages were very clear that I must stop by.
"So your place may be a mess depending on how the search was conducted. Just be ready for anything."
"That's fine. I'll get Cynthia to help me reorganize it."
I took a deep breathe before unlocking my door just to brace for whatever I may find behind the door. Someone is going to regret whatever mess is left behind.
Nothing and I mean nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. My heart sank as I saw the state of my house.
Everything was tossed. Table, chairs, couch and kitchen cupboards. Oh my gosh they were thorough. I walked slowly inside and turned around to take in the mess. I am almost scared to see what my bedroom looks like if my living room and kitchen look like this.
Sam is following cautiously behind me not saying a word.
I opened my bedroom door and my legs nearly gave out from under me and I leaned against the door frame. They really went for a high score to do damage.I turned to look at Sam and he had an apologetic expression on his face. He extended his hand to me and I took it as he pulled me into a hug.
"What can I do to help?"
"I'm going to call Cynthia and then we can start organizing."
"I'll start in the kitchen." He kissed me and walked back to the kitchen.
Sam was busy in the kitchen putting everything back in its place while Cynthia and I tackled my bedroom and closet. We were working in silence. She has been in my closet plenty times, she didn't need to ask where everything goes. She heard the rumours and said she saw for herself the police car outside while they ransacked my house.
Ofcourse she had questions and Cynthia was never one to beat around the bush. I told her the savoury truth about what happened without exposing myself, just a case of mistaken identity. She hugged me for what felt like hours and I felt myself relax for the first time in days.
I don't handle pity well so we quickly changed topics to talk about Sam."Yeah, he has been so sweet. He's been taking good care of me."
"I know you were having dinner when you got...uhm...taken, but how was the food?"
"It was amazing. He made grilled chicken and vegetables. We had brownies and ice cream for dessert." I answered softly.
"What's wrong?" She put her hand on my shoulder.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking about Sam and if he sees me differently now. He saw me in a very vulnerable position and I..."
"Hey, he doesn't think anything negative. Besides, he had your back and he took care of you. Don't worry, he seems like a solid guy."
I sigh and nod. I hate that I don't trust him yet, not even with the truth. His job is important to him and by what I saw, nothing stands in his way when he does it. Not even me.
"You girls hungry?" Sam asked leaning against the doorframe looking incredibly sexy and I can't help but smile.
"Yes." Cynthia said clapping.
"We are almost done. What did you have in mind?" I asked.
"I've ordered pizza. It should be arriving in a few minutes."
We finished organizing my bedroom and headed to the dining room when Sam called us.
I don't have a lot of stuff in my house but they sure tossed whatever I had like a salad and that made my stuff seem like a lot.
