POV: Sam
~Bachelor party~
I can't believe I let Brian and Jude talk me into actually having a bachelor party. I would have been happy with a dinner and drinks with my friends, but that idea crashed and burned as soon as it left my mouth. I was told to not even suggest anything but rather get dressed and ready to party. I didn't even fight them, they looked too excited about it and I don't know if I should be worried.
I had to run a few errands for Kelly before getting ready for the party. I arrived at the penthouse after having lunch with Brian and Jude. They were going to make final arrangements and we'll meet up at the venue. I wanted to finish packing so I don't have to do it tomorrow in a rush. As I'm packing a knock comes through. I went to open the door and I thought my eyes were deceiving me.
"Hello agent Macallan." He said and I remained frozen in my position staring at him until he cleared his throat.
"Aren't you going to invite me in? Afterall you and your law enforcement colleagues are looking for me." He stated and my senses finally came back to me.
"How the hell did you get up here? What do you want? To hand yourself in?" I threw the questions in his face.
"Invite me in if you want answers." He insisted and against my better judgement, thanks to my curiosity, I moved aside so he could come in.
This is a wanted man and the target of our taskforce investigation. We have been looking for him since before I came to New York. We had captured him once but it went nowhere fast. We don't even know his name. It's like looking for a ghost, yet he's here.
He looked around and waited for me to invite him further into my home, and I did. We sat at the dining table and I was already mad at myself for doing this but I was also curious about what made him suddenly take such a huge risk by showing his face here at a federal agent's house.
"Why are you here?" I demanded and he smiled.
"I thought you would be happy to get a sit-down with me." He smirked. "I here your wedding is coming soon. Congratulations." He said with a sad smile which confused me.
"Who are you? Your name?" I asked him and he chuckled.
"Special agent, that is not an easy question." He's still evading questions of his identity.
I demanded again to know why he was here, taking a risk. What he said next threw me off my centre. Never in a million years did I expect the words that came out of his mouth.
"Because I um, I knew her father." He said and his expression looked serious.
Those four words had my head spinning. I wanted to question him further but my phone rang and I knew it had to Brian or Jude looking for me. Damn it.
"I know you have to go. All I wanted to say was please take care of her." He said standing up fixing his suit.
"Does she know?" I asked softly and he chuckled before shaking his head.
Kelly said she grew up in foster care. If he knows her father, how come he never came for her? Even as an adult now, he still hasn't come looking for her. Maybe he's lying.
"I'll see you soon." He said letting me know this conversation was far from over.
I watched as he walked out of the penthouse. What is going on? Is he trying to derail the investigation by getting into my head again? What's the end game?
My phone rang again and that was my cue to get moving. I quickly changed and headed out to the car where the driver was waiting for me.
I arrived at the hotel to find Brian and Jude waiting for me in the lobby. They blindfolded me as we got in the elevator. When we stepped out my mind was blown. Man the boys went all out for me. They organised a party at the rooftop of the hotel, overlooking the city.
