The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. ~Theodore Hesburgh
Luke's POV
I walked into school the next day and headed down the hallway. Getting the occasional "hello" from people I could never remember the names of. But they all knew me.
I turned the corner and went towards my locker. Dallas was standing smiling at me like always.
"Hi Dallas." I smiled.
"Hey Luke." Dallas greeted. "How are you?"
"I suppose you're going to try and make me feel bad so let's just get this started." I said.
"Aw, you know me so well." Dallas smiled. "Who's a good little doggie?" Dallas walked over and ruffled my hair. "You are, yes you are." Dallas paused. "So, you tell Michael or are you a big boy?"
"He practically forced it out of me." I rolled my eyes.
"Oh what's that look for?" Dallas chuckled.
"He just cares for me." I smiled at Dallas. "It looks like you were wrong."
"Hemmings are you challenging me? You don't think I'm going to give up that easy, do you?" Dallas asked.
"You can't touch me." I smiled at Dallas whom just smiled back.
"This isn't over." Dallas said. "I am going to break you in like a horse."
"Well in that case I might as well start off by winning.." I smirked at Dallas before taking a swing, hitting him and making him crash against the lockers as he stood wide eyed.
"Luke Hemmings!" A teacher yelled as she grabbed my arm.
"Worth it!" I called back to Dallas who stood wide eyed.
I ended up in the principal's office where she sat looking at me without amusement.
"Hi Mrs. Fresk." I smiled.
"You look very pleased for having just punching another student." She said.
"Oh I am very pleased. I don't regret it." I nodded.
"Even though you're going to get suspended?" She asked.
"Doesn't bother me." I shrugged. "He had it coming."
"Ah now this is where I know why." She chuckled. "Why did he have it coming?"
"He has been giving me hell for several weeks and he already punched me in the face." I shrugged. "So I thought I would return the favor."
"Luke when I was your age, I did the same things." She smiled. "But that doesn't mean I can let you."
"Yeah I know that I'm suppose to come to you with all my problems." I said. "That clearly didn't happen."
"Clearly." Mrs. Fresk laughed. "I mean you punched..who in the face?"
"Dallas!" I smiled.
Mrs. Fresk started laughing. "You just seem so pleased and I realize this is serious but..You're just so happy about it."
"Yep." I nodded. "So suspension? How long?"
"One week." Mrs. Fresk said, holding up one finger.
"What do I do for the rest of today?" I asked.
"Get the hell out of my school." Mrs. Fresk said. "Oh and Luke? No more fights, alright?"
"Alright." I nodded, standing up. "See you in a week Mrs. Fresk!"
"Bye." Mrs. Fresk chuckled as I left the room and the school before dialing Michael.
"Luke, why are you calling me?" He asked.
"I just got kicked out of school." I laughed. "So I was wondering if you would get my belongings out of my locker."
"Yeah sure." Michael said. "Wait..You got kicked out!?"
"Yeah suspended." I said.
"Why!?"
"I may or may not have punched Dallas in the face." I chuckled.
There was a pause. "We can talk about this later. Just..I don't know, I'll let you know when I get out."
"Okay, bye!" I said and hung up before calling my mother.
"Hi honey." She said.
"I got suspended." I said bluntly. "So I'm coming home."
"Okay now why are you actually coming home?" My mother asked.
"Because, I punched a little snot kid in the face and the principal made me leave." I said. "I'm serious."
"Luke.." My mother laughed. "Why did you punch him?"
"Cause all he does is try to get on my nerves and make everything harder then it needs to be." I said. "Plus he punched me once, remember?"
"Oh that kid!" My mother said. "Well I'm not really mad about it, but I don't how your father will react to it."
"He was mad cause I didn't punch the kid back." I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah but he's going to say that this is different because you initiated physical contact." My mother said.
"Well I can tell him when he's home from work tonight." I said. "It really isn't a big deal."
"Did you tell Ashton?" My mother asked.
"No but I did tell Michael." I said.
There was a pause. "Who's Michael?" I said nothing. "Luke! Who is Michael!?"
"I think we're dating?" I said.
"You think!?" My mother said.
"I'm like ninety-five percent sure." I laughed.
"Luke!" My mother squealed. "Oh my gosh, how come I haven't gotten to meet him!?"
"Easy now." I rolled my eyes.
"What's his number, I wanna interrogate him."
"Mum! No!"
"You're no fun!" My mother groaned. "I'll just do it when I meet him or I'll hack your phone."
"You have no shame."
"At least I wasn't suspended."
"Actually you were.." I said. "Remember that time that you told me about where you kicked your ex in the -"
"Alright! I get it." My mother laughed. "Just come on home, I'll make you something to eat."
"Alright thanks." I laughed and hung up. I continued to my house.
Michael clearly was displeased with me becoming suspended, but my mother seemed not to care; however my father was my my mother. He would care. And he would be angry. That is why I would tell him, not my mother. I did not want him angry with both of us.
I made my way home to my house where I saw my mother sitting in the kitchen. Passing me a plate of cookies as she pointed to the seat across from her.
"Take a seat boy." She smiled.
"Alright alright." I said.
"In order for you to not be grounded.." My mother smiled. "You gotta tell me about Michael."
