Luke's POV
"This game is so dumb." Dallas groaned as he lost his last life. With a mere 2,000 points. "Whatever Luke is going to do like ten times worse then I am."
"How do you know that?" Nettie asked.
"Cause it's Luke." Dallas smirked as he pinched my cheek. I slapped his hand away as I sat myself in front of Michael's computer. "Go on Luke. Hit the space bar to start. Or can you not even figure that out." I felt my face flush red as I heard a small amount of chuckling and just a sigh out of Michael. It was extremely true that I did not belong here. If no one was willing to stand up against Dallas, then why was I bothering?
"I'm not an idiot Dallas." I commented.
"Really I would've thought you were since you hang out with all the dumb jocks." Dallas smirked. This is where I felt my blood boiling as I stood up from my seat and looked at Dallas.
"They're not dumb!" I snapped.
"They're big oafs." Dallas smirked, knowing that he was pushing my buttons. "Including that one guy..What's his name? Ashton, right?" I could feel temper only increasing but I sat down and started playing.

"Luke's on level thirty!" Mikki said as she looked over my shoulder. "How are you so good at this? I only made it to level five." I shrugged. "Make that level thirty-one!"
"Okay Luke, you can stop using cheats now." Nettie laughed as she sat on the other side of me. I just continued to play it though. I finally died when I reached level one-hundred-and-forty-eight.
"What the hell Luke.." Sonya mumbled. "Can you take my turn for me?"
"Have you ever played Pac-Man before?" Maxx asked and I shook my head slowly.
"Whatever it's just some dumb retro game." Dallas scoffed. "It's not a big deal."
"Then explain why you couldn't get passed level one?" Mikki smiled as she nudged my shoulder. At this point I stood up, and began walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Michael called to me.
"Home." I grumbled. "I took Calum's turn and that's all I'm here for." I had just slipped on my shoes and walked out the door when I heard the door open and turned to see Michael walking towards me.
"What do you want?" I asked. Michael tilted his head slightly to the side.
"What's the matter, kid?" Michael asked. I scoffed and leaned against the telephone pole.
"I'm not going back in there so if you're out here trying to convince me. You might as well give up." I shrugged.
"What happened to bubbly Luke?" Michael smiled hopefully.
"What am I not allowed to be upset too!?" I snapped and then laid a hand over my own mouth. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to snap at you." I paused. "You know this was dumb to begin with. We weren't meant to be friends." I let out a huff of breath. "Which kinda sucks, because I want to be your friend. But I can't be your friend if you're ashamed to be mine!"
"I-I'm not.." Michael mumbled.
"Then why do you let Dallas treat me that way!?" I snapped. "I get it, he's your friend too. But you're treating the villain like a victim and the victim like a villain!"
"What do you want me to Luke!?" Michael shouted. "You can't expect me to chose you over Dallas!"
"I'm not telling you to choose me over Dallas!" I replied. "I'm just asking to at least help me out.."
"You know maybe it's time you got treated like a stranger." Michael scoffed. "Time that you learned how it feels to be on the bottom. To not be the popular kid!"
"You think I don't know?" I asked. I saw Michael's expression soften slightly. "Do you just take me as some jerk preppy kid?" Michael did not respond. "This is why we weren't meant to be friends. We can't get along. We're so back and forth with one another. And in one moment I absolutely hate you, but then in the next you're nice enough to me, and you treat me like a human so that I can't hate you! Make up your mind!"
"You make up yours then!" Michael snapped. "You keep telling me that this friendship is pointless, so why do you keep trying!? Huh, Luke? Is it worth it!?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Why is that?" Michael scoffed.
"Cause it's you." I muttered. "It's worth it because you're funny, and if we're friends at the moment your nice. And you have to give some sort of damn about me because you're trying to make me fit into your life by increasing my interest in something you like!" I took a deep breath. "You're trying, why should I stop trying?"
Michael looked me up and down. "Get out of here, Luke." I went wide eyed at Michael's response. "Did you here me!?"
"I heard you alright.." I mumbled as I turned and began walking down the street. Chewing down on my lip as I wandered back to my house. What to do now, what to do now..
At least Michael had friend's that he could always rely on. I did not. It was more like I had a group to sit with at lunch and in my classes. It was at this moment that I realized something else.
There was not a whole lot to me. I did not have hobbies, characteristics that set me apart from other people. I was just your typical high school boy. Who had the intelligence and looks to make other's see me fondly. But not enough for other's to actually want to be my friend. I was bland. I was the real loser here. Because I was alone.
