Speak when you are angry - and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret. ~Laurence J. Peter
Luke's POV
I walked down the hallway with Michael the next day. My hair was still wet from the shower I recently had, so my hair was flat against my forehead.
"And I was completely out of mana so of course with ten health Calum killed me." Michael said, he was telling me about some game him and Calum were playing. In which they.. one-v-one'd, each other? And apparently Calum was a completely annoying player and won.
"Michael tell me again, what is one-v-one mean?" I turned my head to Michael.
"It means one verses one." Michael smiled. "Meaning you play against one person. Like a two-v-two would be two verses two."
"We should try that!" I smiled.
"Luke I would kick your ass."
"You could always let me win." I said, nudging Michael with my elbow.
"I'm not going to let you win. Ever." Michael smiled at patted my head.
"Why not! I would let you win!" I huffed.
"Let me win at what?" Michael asked. "You don't do anything."
"That's not true I.." I trailed off. That was true. I did not do anything really. I watched Ashton play sports but I could not say that I had any skill. I was not good at anything. "Never mind. You're right."
"Aw don't go pouting about it." Michael said.
"Why? Cause I'm the most boring and useless person on the earth?" I replied and saw Michael's jaw drop.
"Luke you're not boring and you're certainly not useless." Michael said. "What makes you say that?"
"I have no skills." I said as we reached my locker. "Dallas is right. I am nothing but a dog. Although I'm pretty sure dogs have more talent then me."
"Luke don't talk like that.." Michael muttered.
"Why? Cause it's true?" I scoffed. "Does it make you proud to have a worthless boyfriend?"
"You're not worthless." Michael scoffed. "Did what I say set you off that much? Do I have to be careful about what I say because you're so sensitive."
I raised my eyebrows to Michael. "Are you seriously going to act that way?"
"I don't understand, you were fine like ten minutes ago." Michael said.
"You don't get it. You're good at a lot of things." I said. "I am good at nothing!"
"You're good at being helpful." Michael said gently. "Serious, you saved your father's hide. No matter what you always try to help me. You always support Ashton by showing up to not only his games but his practices. Doesn't that count for something?"
"Where will that get me?" I asked. "I'm not good at anything!"
"There must be something you're good at besides that." Michael rolled his eyes.
"I'm good at waking up every morning and making my hair stick straight up!" I snapped.
"You're ridiculous." Michael shook his head. "You're so impossible!"
"Oh am I!" I scoffed.
"Uh..Guys?" I turned my head to see Nettie looking between us. "I-Is everything okay? You're kinda..Causing a scene." I looked around and noticed several other students were looking at us. "What's the matter?"
"Luke won't listen." Michael scoffed.
"Michael's being a pain in my ass." I snarled.
"You enjoyed that pain in your ass." Michael smirked, as if it was not meant to be a joke, but rather to taunt me. I stood wide eyed and jaw dropped. My face turning a deep shade of red.
I wanted to speak, but I had no idea what to say. I shook my head slowly and slammed my locker and walked off down the hallway. I went up to the top floor where my class would be and ended up slamming straight into someone around the corner.
"Luke?" I heard someone asked and saw Dallas smirking. "Why are you in such a hurry?"
"Not today Dallas.." I muttered.
"No, you're suppose to do what I say." Dallas said.
"No."
"No? So I can tell Michael - "
"Go ahead and tell him!" I snapped. "Not like I give a damn about him anyways!"
At this point Dallas stood wide eyed but then smiled. I saw pull out his phone and start laughing but then he continued talking.
"What happened?" Dallas asked. As much as I did not trust Dallas, I was in a mood and stuck in a temper where nothing mattered.
"He's being ridiculous and he's just a pain." I scoffed.
"Michael? A pain?" Dallas asked. "Why are you acting like that towards him? I thought you two loved each other."
"Yeah well that's a one sided feeling." I scoffed. "I can't stand that boy.."
"You don't love him?" Dallas said, tilting his head to the side.
"Of course not, he's nothing but annoyance. All he does is make everything harder then it needs to be. I'm just so done with him right now." I sighed, running a hand down my face. "This is dumb, I have to get to class. Get out of my way."
"Alright, thanks Luke." Dallas smiled and I turned to him with confusion.
"For what?" I asked.
"Oh you'll see." Dallas said, he began to chuckle. "You will indeed see."
"What are you doing..?" I asked.
"You know, you really shouldn't talk poorly about your boyfriend behind his back." Dallas said. "Who knows, someone could have just decided to..Play around."
"What are you talking about? What did you do?" I asked again, taking a step closer to Dallas. He smiled and shrugged then walked down the hallway.
I shook my head slowly and walked into my classroom and could see Mikki sitting towards the back, clicking on her phone. I walked over to her and she turned and smiled at me, locking her phone as she set it down on the desk.
"Hey Mikki." I said and sat down.
"Hi Luke. How are you?" Mikki asked.
"Good." I nodded. "What about you? How are you?"
"I'm good too. Thank you for asking." Mikki smiled. Her phone vibrated against the desk and she picked up it, looking at the screen she unlocked it.
"Dallas texted me." She announced and I titled my head in confusion. "What is that..?"
"What?" I asked.
"He just..I need my headphones." Mikki said. Just as she reached for her bag the teacher called the class to start and she put her phone away with a sigh. Eventually at the end of the class, when the bells rung Mikki took her phone out of her bag again. Plugging in her headphones, she placed each bud in her ear.
She gave a confused look for a minute before her jaw dropped and she went wide eyed. She took out her headphones and looked at me.
"What?" I asked.
"I.." Mikki trailed off but her temper clearly rose as she struck her hand against my cheek. "Watch yourself Hemmings.."
