Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. ~Francis of Assisi
Luke's POV
I walked into school on Monday, holding tightly onto Michael's hand and most of his arm. Like I was scared to be here. Maybe I was.
Everything was confusing. I had no concept of what was real and what was not. It was almost as if I was watching myself do everything and as a result, did things I did not even want to do. It was like voices in my head were just screaming at me from every which way. But even with all that, it felt like I did not know a damned thing, I did not feel anything, I barely could recognize that I was a person half of the time and everything took so much longer to process then I was used to.
"Are you alright?" Michael asked and I nodded. "Okay well we can leave anytime if you start to feel overwhelmed."
"Okay.." I mumbled.
We stopped at my locker but when I looked at it, I had no idea what to do.
"It's okay, I picked up your combination earlier today." Michael smiled. I watched him do it and looked up to see someone.
I knew that face.
"That's.." I began and at this point Michael turned to me. "Dallas.."
"Correct." Michael said.
"Mm..He's bad." I said. Every voice in my head was screaming that Dallas was a bad person. But when he saw me he went wide eyed and walked over to me.
"Luke's back!?" He turned to Michael. Michael nodded. "Oh thank goodness. I was beginning to think that he was dead." Michael nodded once more. "Why is he looking at me like that?"
"He's having a hard time mentally," Michael said. "He's trying to get a feel for you by remembering you. He already knows who you are though. Just, Dallas please don't be a jerk to him. He really can't handle that."
"Okay." Dallas said, he took a step closer to me.
"Hi Luke." Dallas smiled. There was the name again, Luke.
"Me?" I asked.
"Yep." Dallas said. "Do you remember me?"
"Mm..You're mean." I said.
Dallas nodded. "Yeah, I am. I did bad things to you. I'm sorry though, and I won't hurt you anymore. Okay?"
"Okay." I said.
"Does Ashton know he's here?" Dallas asked.
"Ashton..?" I asked.
"Yeah you know - "
"No," Michael cut Dallas off. "Let him think about it before you tell him who he is."
So I did like Michael said and the memories of Ashton just did not come. So I shook my head. "Maybe you can figure out who he is when you see him." Michael said. "For now just put your bag away and we can go to class."
"Okay." I nodded. "Bye..Da-Dallas.."
"Yeah, bye." Dallas smiled. He seemed very spastic and if I remembered correctly, Dallas was not like that at all.
Eventually Michael and I had reached a classroom and when we did upon walking to the back two boys went wide at the sight.
"Don't say anything." Michael pointed at them and then turned to me. "What are their names?"
"Is this real?" I whispered to Michael.
"Yes it is." Michael said.
"Just checking."
