step one : identify the person you want to kill

xingqiu knows there are many people in liyue that would want to get their hands into dirty business if they could, and as someone of literatue and powtry he decided that was going to help those in need by writing a guide on how to murder someone.

of course he needed to do his own experiments first. a writer never writes without facts and evidence after all, and xingqiu was one of many talents.

the subject of affection — well, death — would be none other than the famous y/n. surely if people wanted to murder another being, one would aim for the popular ones or the selfish merchant type.

or simply just to kill for revenge.

why did xingqiu identify you as the person of interest? well, merely because you thought it was a good idea to dump his books into a water fountain. those books were his most prize posession after all, limited edition and all too — how could you be so cruel and heartless.

well, he was done identifying his object of affectio- ahem, object of death, so now it was time to write the next step to this guide.

📖

step two : know your enemy

xingqiu has known you for little over six years now, and your schedule? he memorised it.

your eating habits? he understood it.

your breathing patterns? he copied it.

your random habits? he backflipped it.

whatever it was, it was meant that xingqiu knew you very well already but for the sake of this guide he was going to get to know you all over again because thats what you have to do you have to know the common enemy before engaging.

its like you have to understand fire before you jump into it thinking it can be swam in.

"dearest y/n, what are you up to this fine morning?" xingqiu spoke with such kindness that you were taken aback, you thought he was still mad about the whole books fiasco.

"o-oh um... just helping xiangling make up a new dish for an upcoming cooking competition." you replied, with caution. you werent sure if he had forgiven you yet, and you were also sure xingqiu was a man of pranks and vengeance, so better be safe.

"how nice of you," he said, his tone was reeking of forced politeness towards you and you could feel it so hard that your stomach was doing flips. "do you like cooking?"

you blinked. didnt he already know you liked it? he had known you for more than five years after all, but you figured maybe he just asked for the sake of the situation. "well— i do, but you knew that right."
