Danny could feel his anger growing as he looked at the paper in front of him. He had been writing down the names of more possible victims as he encountered them. He was unsure of who he would go after next. He only knew that he had to. The thought of her crossed his mind again only to make him sigh in frustration. He had been too distracted with her to continue his work. He even told her his name and though he knew it would get her nowhere he didn't understand why he did it. He usually had a plan for everything but this time it fell apart. He had let his emotions get to him and he couldn't understand why. First, he had just planned to stalk her but then he couldn't help but show himself. Then he realized he had to kill her only to get caught up in another game as she handed herself over to him. And though he had expected these feelings to go away after their night together they only grew. He chalked it up to confusion. He hadn't tried this with anyone before as no one had caught his interest in the same way. He was new to this type of story. Though, he knew it would be the first and the last of something like this. Hopefully, it would pay off as he thought it would. He tried to keep his cool as he continued to think about his plan. He had spent too much time invested in this to let it fall apart. The tip of his pen broke off as he had pressed against the paper too hard and he stopped for a moment realizing that this had gone too far. He tried to calm down as he reminded himself he just needed to wait a bit longer. Then he would have his way with her. He smiled as reminded himself what a prize she would be. His best kill.
————————-
It had been a few weeks since your last visit from Ghostface. You were unsure about how you felt about him but you knew one thing. It wasn't the last time you would see him. Despite the fact that he hadn't talked to you, you knew he had been in your house. It started with a few things out of place. Then quickly became more apparent with items completely missing or placed in obvious areas that you knew you wouldn't have put there. You weren't sure if it was a reminder from him that he hadn't forgotten about you, or if it was a looming threat. So you never forgot about his presence there. Work went by smoothly despite your lack of rest as you would wake up constantly in the night fueled by nightmares where he wasn't so kind. Where he finally decided he was bored of you. Though, not everything seemed so rough as Jed always lit up your days. He talked to you a lot more since the "date" you two had if you could even call it that. He even invited you out to dinner this weekend and you couldn't say no. You felt bad however as he would occasionally ask about your well-being and though you wanted to vent you knew you couldn't mention Ghostface. It would put his and your life at risk and you couldn't do that to him. Jed had clicked with you. The two of you liked so many of the same things and he always seemed understanding to your troubles. He never pushed even though sometimes you wished he did just so you would have an excuse to let all your frustrations out about the man that had been haunting you. He even would bring you coffee some mornings as your weariness had been obvious sometimes. He had brought you one today and you looked over at the cup as it sat on your desk half empty. You had been editing an article for Brad as you grabbed the cup to take another sip when Samantha walked over to you.
"We need some supplies for the office party later," Samantha said as she handed you the list and money. "Brad's also been complaining wondering how long you'll be," she added sounding annoyed at him.
"I just started like an hour ago he's gonna have to give me some time. I'll get the supplies first though," you replied and she nodded.
"Thanks, sorry about all this I know he gets impatient," she said as she waved her hands over the list.
"It's not your fault. I got it," you added and she smiled. She walked away and you put the money in your pocket as you looked over the list. The office was having a small Halloween party as it was only a few days away at this point and you were left having to get all the supplies. You had gotten the majority of them the other day but apparently they had forgotten quite a bit of items. You felt a bit stressed out as you needed to hurry so you quickly walked out of the building and made your way across the street. The chime of the bells that hung on the door broke through the air as you entered the building and your newly found friend Sara waived from her spot at the counter. You had hung out with her a couple times since your first encounter and she was really nice. She was a lot more energetic than you were and outgoing but it helped you break out of your shell a bit. She even had introduced you to a few friends of hers but that just ended up being a bit awkward for you. You looked down at the list in your hands again trying to remember what you needed. "Napkins- preferably orange," you mumbled as you looked up. Unlike your first visit you almost knew the store like the back of your hand and immediately went to the correct isle. Unfortunately, they didn't have any orange napkins and you had to settle for plain white ones as you picked up the pack and threw it into the basket you had been carrying. You repeated the process a few more times before you jumped at the sound of someone speaking behind you.
"Sorry I just came over since I'm bored," Sara laughed as you caught your breath.
"It's ok. Slow day huh?" you asked and she nodded.
"Slower than usual. It's been like that since the last murder again," she said making a shiver run down your spine. "Sorry- I keep forgetting you get scared easily," she added.
"It's alright. Anyways I'm just here because I'm picking up more stuff for that Halloween party my office is doing later today," you said as she listened attentively.
"Oh! That reminds me my friends and I are going to that party at the frat house across my street. Wanna go?" she asked and you felt your stomach sink. You didn't do well with crowds.
"I would go but I'm not good around lots of people," you said shyly though you knew she would understand.
"Yeah, well if you change your mind it's just gonna be me Josh and Kristy," she said as you awkwardly looked away. "They like you. I know it was a bit awkward when you met them they're just more used to party- type people," she added making you feel a bit better. They had been nice when you met them but you just had a hard time keeping conversation as they didn't seem to have any common interests with you and they were, as Sara had put it, "party-type" people.
"I'll keep it in mind," you said and she nodded. After grabbing all the supplies you needed from the store you walked back to the office enjoying your few minutes outside in the breeze before being back in the stuffy building where you worked. You smiled as you saw Jed had returned from earlier and was sitting at his desk typing away. He looked over at you and waved but before you could make your way over Brad had completely blocked him from your view as he stood in front of you.
"You know I need that article done soon," he huffed as you tried to keep a polite look on your face.
"I know I just had to get the supplies for later. I'll get back to it though," you stated.
"Yeah, sure. You would probably work a lot faster if you didn't stare at Jed the whole day," he commented and you could feel your cheeks flush.
"Do you need any help?" Jed interrupted as he walked up to the two of you.
"Uh-no I'm fine," you replied as you held the paper bags firmly against your chest.
"Stubborn too. Don't expect anything," Brad spoke to Jed before walking off.
"Let me help," Jed said as he grabbed the bag from your arms. "For the break room?" he asked and you nodded. The two of you walked there and he set the bag down on the counter before speaking up again. "Are you ok?" he asked as you pulled out the supplies from the bag. You hadn't realized that you had been tearing up until you saw his concerned look.
"Yeah- it's just been a long day," you replied as you wiped your face with your hand.
"Ok...you know you can tell me anything right?" he asked and you felt a ping in your chest. It was moments like those that made you want to just spill out all of your worries. Though, you knew you couldn't.
"I-I've been having a lot of nightmares," you said truthfully. Though, it wasn't the entirety of it.
"Nightmares?" Jed asked confused.
"Yeah, I just worry," you said as you closed your eyes and took a deep breath working up the courage to say more.
"About what?" he asked.
"About Ghostface," you said and he gave a somewhat surprised face. "I just worry what if I'm next?" you said. "I know it's dumb it's just working here and reading everything. It takes a toll," you added as your courage fell flat.
Jed gave you a look you were unsure of and you were worried you had said too much. He was gonna think you're crazy. He was gonna think you were too easily afraid.
"I'm sorry," he said leaving you a bit shocked. "I know it's not easy, but you don't have to worry ok? I'm not gonna let anything happen to you," he said as he rest his hands on your shoulders. You felt appreciation at the fact that he tried to comfort you even though you knew that those were just words. And that Ghostface had already been inside of your home.
"Thank you," you said as he let go of your shoulders. "I'm probably just reading about it too much lately," you added trying to laugh it off and he smiled though his worry still showed.
"It's gonna be ok," he replied before helping you put stuff away. "Speaking of reading will I ever be able to read your stories?" he asked and you made a knowing face.
"If I do you have to promise you won't laugh," you said and he looked surprised.
"So I can?" he asked as if he hadn't expected you to say that.
"Yes, but like I said don't laugh even if they're terrible," you replied and he smiled.
"Fair deal," he said putting out his hand. You shook it and then went back to putting away the supplies in the break room.
After finishing setting up the supplies Jed left to go finish his work at his desk and you started to put up the decorations in the break room. You had always loved Halloween, though with everything going on in town it put a small damper on your mood. When you were done with the decor you went back to your desk and began to finish up your work before the party. It would start at lunch and everyone would be able to go home early which excited you as you were long overdue on extra sleep.
"Here you go," you said as you set Brads newly edited drafts on his desk. He ignored you which only annoyed you but realized it would probably be better than his snarky comments.
"Ok everyone. Anyone who wants to continue working may. While the rest of us are going to have a spooky celebration," Bob announced and you laughed at the cheesiness.
You watched as Jed stood up from his desk and looked over at you giving you a small smile. You made your way over to his desk and lifted your arms jokingly to look spooky. He laughed at that and you joined him.
"Am I not spooky enough?" you asked playfully.
"Terrified," he said making you laugh. The two of you walked to the break room grabbing some of the Halloween themed cupcakes you grabbed from the store. Deciding the break room was too packed for how small the space was, you both went back to his desk and sat down.
"You have some frosting on your face," Jed said as he moved his hand to your face and wiped it off.
"Sorry," you said smiling lightly. You felt a bit surprised when he sucked the frosting off his finger but couldn't help but feel slightly turned on. You looked around but everyone seemed too busy with their own things to be paying attention.
"You picked a good flavor," he joked and you smiled again.
"So, where are we going for dinner?" you asked curiously.
"I was actually gonna ask you where you wanted to go. If you aren't sure I was just gonna take you to this Italian place I heard is pretty good," he said and you thought about it for a second.
"That sounds nice. I don't know many restaurants around here," you replied.
"Is 8 good?" he ask and you nodded before taking another bite of your cupcake. He stared at you and you felt a bit embarrassed as you chewed. You covered your mouth as you continued eating and he chuckled. "You're cute with how nervous you get," he said making you feel even more embarrassed.
"Is it that obvious?" you joked and he laughed.
"As obvious as it gets. You don't need to be. I'm not one to judge," he said and you felt a bit more comfortable. "I also rented another movie if you want to watch it after," he added.
"Sounds good. I can pay for the movie and stuff," you added and he shook his head.
"No, I have it covered don't worry," he said and you felt bad as he usually paid for things.
"Well, you have to let me one of these days," you said trying to let him know it didn't bother you.
"Your company is enough for me," he said and you blushed making him chuckle again.
The rest of the day went easy and you slightly panicked when you got home as you were indecisive on what to wear. You took a quick shower before you finally decided on your favorite outfit and put it on looking yourself over in the mirror. You took in a deep breath as you looked over at the clock and read 8. As if on cue you heard a knock on the door and walked over nervously.
"You look cute," Jed said as you opened the door.
"Thanks," you said sheepishly as you closed the door behind you. You had changed the locks and still had a difficult time remembering that it wasn't as janky as the old one. "Sorry, these are new," you said trying to hurry.
"It's ok, were the old ones bad?" he asked curiously and you nodded.
"Yeah, these are supposed to be better but I'm still getting used to them," you added.
When you had gotten to the restaurant you felt a bit nervous as you didn't expect it to be so fancy. He led you inside and already had a reservation so the wait wasn't long.
"Did you tell them you were a famous reporter?" you joked and he laughed.
"Definitely," he responded smiling at you. "I also told them I was bringing the best editor in town," he added making you smile. It felt like he was good at doing that. Everything felt so easy and natural with him.
"Still just an intern," you smiled although you appreciated the comments.
"With how well you do you'll probably be moved up soon," he said with confidence.
Dinner was nice and you mostly talked about your hobbies and things you enjoyed doing besides writing.
"So, what got you into photography?" you asked curiously taking small bites of your food.
"I just like that you can capture a moment and keep it," he replied casually.
"I get that. Do you do a lot of photography outside of work?" you asked and he stared back at you with a wide grin.
"A lot actually. It's what I spend most of my free time doing," he said and his smile felt warm and contagious leaving you with that familiar comfort that he always provided.
"W-would you mind showing me sometime?" you asked and his smile faltered slightly and you had wondered if you had said something wrong.
"I would love to. Usually the photos for the paper are the only ones people get to see," he said and you understood why he seemed upset. At least you thought you did.
"Yeah, it sucks when you put a lot of work into something only for it to get ignored," you replied and he nodded.
The rest of the dinner went a bit more lighthearted and he explained the process of developing photos and said he would show you how to when you showed interest. You wondered what his place must have been like and wondered if he would even invite you there at some point. He seemed to keep his car relatively clean so you assumed it was probably the same at his home. When you were finished he paid for the meal and you were left feeling anticipation as he drove you home. You struggled as you tried opening the door to your home still not used to it. You got into comfier clothes as he put the movie on and met him on the couch snuggling close to him as he put his arm around your shoulder.
"I can't watch," you said as you semi covered your eyes. Jed laughed and you could feel his chest move next to you as you continued to look at the screen in front of you.
"We don't have to watch it," he said as he looked down at you.
"I'd feel bad you rented it, plus it's interesting just...a lot," you replied and he smirked.
"That was just an excuse to spend more time with you," he said and you smiled back at him. He stared at your lips and this time you decided to take the initiative. You slowly got up and moved yourself so that you were sitting on his lap your knees on each side of his legs again as he looked at you slightly surprised.
"Yeah? Is that why?" you asked as you looked at him noticing his gaze looking back at your lips.
"Maybe... there's more to it," he replied as he looked back up to meet your gaze. His eyes had gone dark and you could feel yourself begin to grow nervous as you knew what was coming.
Before you could say anything he pressed his lips against yours and you could feel his hand on the back of your head as you returned the heated moment. He continued to kiss you as he moved his hands down to your thighs and pulled you forward ever so slightly and you could feel his body press against yours. You had your hands gripping at his shirt as he continued and you started to move your hips slowly to grind against him. A small moan gave way from his lips and you felt the heat rise between your legs as you felt rewarded. You continued to grind slowly against him and eventually his hands moved to your hips as he grabbed them tightly and you almost flinched from the pain but instead enjoyed it. He bit down on your bottom lip lightly and you couldn't help but moan. His tongue slipped in and you twirled yours along with his as his hand started to move up your shirt. Suddenly, he stopped and pulled back. His breath was heavy and you looked at him with desperate eyes unsure of why he pulled away.
"Are you sure you want to?" he asked and you smiled and giggled at how he still had cared enough to ask despite the fact that you were obviously craving the slightest touch from him.
You nodded simply and he grabbed you by your waist and picked you up leaving you a bit surprised as you wrapped your legs around him and he started to carry you over to your bedroom. He wrapped one arm fully behind you as he opened the door with his other hand and you leaned against him. He dropped you slowly onto the bed as he climbed over you. You felt vulnerable suddenly as he loomed over you kissing you again. You tried to relax and eventually felt relief wash over you as you gave into his touch. He continued to kiss you and eventually started to trail kisses down your jaw and neck and you could feel his hands slowly tug down your shorts. The cold air brushed between your legs as he slowly pulled down your underwear and you jolted slightly as you felt his fingers start to rub against you. He pulled back and looked down at you making you feel vulnerable again and moved back and you realized his intentions. He looked at you for a moment and you simply laid back and focused at the ceiling above you as you felt him lean down. His breath hit against your thighs as he slowly kissed you causing you tense your legs together a bit and you could feel his smile against your skin. He continued to kiss your thigh and you let out a surprised moan when you finally felt his tongue press against your clit flicking upwards. He continued to lap up your juices and moved his tongue slowly against your clit occasionally moving further down and dipping his tongue a bit into your hole causing you to squirm beneath him wanting more. He started to suck your clit and you let out another loud moan as he slowly moved his hand and you could feel his fingers tease you as he slowly pushed them inside of you. He started to work them in and out slowly and you couldn't help it as you felt a release soon after. You felt him continue to lap it all up before he got up and wiped his mouth with his hand. You looked nervously at him as he moved over you and looked directly at you.
"Don't worry, you taste amazing," he said as the blush rose to your cheeks. He leaned down and began to kiss you again and you gripped at his shirt again. He grabbed one of your hands gently and moved it down towards his belt and you began to undo the buckle as he moved his hands under your shirt again and began to grab at your chest. You unbuckled his belt and soon after undid the button of his pants. He pushed against you as you did making it somewhat difficult but you felt your anticipation grow as you felt his cock pressed hard against you.
"Take off your shirt," he said as he pulled away and you complied. He followed suit and you stared as he began to pull down his pants and underwear shortly after. He was lean although somewhat muscular and you couldn't help but stare. He must've noticed as he smirked and you let out a small smile in return. He moved back on top of you again and you wrapped your legs around his torso feeling your skin brush against his. You moaned against his lips as you felt the tip of his cock push against your hole before he moved one of his hands down and he lined himself up before pushing into you slowly. You felt your walls stretch around him feeling a slight sting before you finally relaxed. He started off slowly continuing to kiss you as he pumped in and out of you. Eventually, he picked up the pace and buried his face into the crook of your neck as he pounded into you. You tangled your hands in his hair as his breath hit against your neck and you could hear his groaning slowly get louder. He continued to kiss your neck before he started to suck on it and he slammed into you more aggressively. He kept pulling out almost entirely before shoving his cock deeper into you again and eventually you felt yourself get close again.
"J-Jed, I'm gonna cum," you said in between heavy breaths and this only drove him to continue faster and he moved one of his hands to your thighs grabbing under it and pushing down on it as he fucked you even harder. You let out a loud moan as you came but he didn't slow down. He continued to fuck you until you heard his breaths get shorter and he moaned loudly as he came deep inside of you.
You laid there feeling his weight on top of you and his sweat mix with yours. He pulled out slowly and you felt sadness at the feeling of being empty again. He stared at you for a moment and you looked deep into his eyes as he moved a piece of your hair from your face.
"Are you ok?" he asked and you didn't even realize what he meant until his finger slid slowly across your cheek wiping away a tear you didn't even know had slipped out.
"Y-yeah," you replied as you felt an overwhelming ache in your chest. You didn't know why you had cried but you knew that it wasn't bad. "I just really enjoyed it," you smiled back playfully and he chuckled.
"Me too," he said as he got up and you sat up watching him curiously.
"You're not staying?" you asked and he looked back at you.
"Do you want me to?" he asked and you looked down at the bed nervously.
"N-no it's ok. I understand if you can't," you replied. You felt his hand move under your jaw and he moved your head to look up at him.
"I was hoping you wanted me to," he said as he kept your gaze locked with his before leaning in kissing your forehead.
