The next day had been rough. You had spent it tired because you had gotten barely any sleep the previous night fearful of waking up and seeing him there. Maybe then he wouldn't let you go. Maybe he would decide you weren't fun anymore and he would push the cold steel of his blade through your chest. It didn't get any easier and when the weekend was over it only followed you to your work.

"Hey," Danny said as he walked up to her. She jumped in her spot at the desk before looking up meekly. She had seemed frightful before but now she was obviously a lot more anxious. He smiled as he thought about the effect he had on her. His visit to her that night had gone a little differently than he expected. He didn't think she would be so willing so quickly.
"Hi, uh sorry. If you're wondering about the article I'm almost done with it," she responded sounding fatigued. She obviously hadn't gotten a lot of sleep and he didn't blame her. She had been visited by a serial killer of course. But he had no interest in killing her at the moment. No, he had other plans. He wanted to play around with her first. He wanted to learn more about her. And he had.
"It's fine. I wanted to know if you wanted to go to lunch with me again today," he said watching as her face lit up a bit. If only she had known. He had visited her house a few times prior to his official introduction to her as Ghostface. He had gone through all of her things. The movies she watched, the books, her stories.
"That sounds good. I could use the coffee," she smiled and though she put on a happy face Danny could still sense the fear that had been bothering her.
"I gotta go out for some field work but I'll be back by 12 ok?" Danny said as she nodded. He could feel his excitement at the idea of eventually getting her to fall for Jed. Only to then reveal himself if he ever got the chance. To truly finish her off.

You tried to calm yourself as you wrote and made corrections to the paper that lied in front of you. Your hand was a bit shaky and you didn't want people to notice. Though, it was difficult to hide as you couldn't help feel like he was there. "You're acting crazy," you thought to yourself. There was no way he would follow you to work. He just visited you at home where no one would see. And he let you go. Your anxiety calmed down a bit as the time went on and eventually when the clock hit 12 you sighed in relief. Maybe it would be good to talk to someone. Even if you wouldn't be telling him anything.
"You ready?" Jed asked and you nodded.
"Yeah, same place as last time?" you asked hoping it would be as you wanted something familiar.
"Unless you want to go somewhere else that's what I was thinking," Jed smiled as the two of you walked to his car outside. The ride was filled with small talk and you watched the trees pass by outside the window letting yourself finally feel somewhat relaxed. You had almost forgotten about it completely until the dreaded question came.
"You seemed a bit off this morning. Are you ok?" Jed asked and you felt your heart drop. You didn't want to lie to him but you couldn't risk telling anyone. You had no idea what Ghostface was capable of.
"Yeah. Just had a rough weekend. I was busy writing and didn't realize how late I stayed up," you smiled hoping that he wouldn't push on the subject anymore.
"I get that. It's cute that you spent it writing most people probably spent it drinking. Did you see Brad? Obvious hangover," Jed laughed and you blushed at the realization that he had called you cute.
"Yeah. Makes sense since he was more moody today than he usually is," you replied in agreement. And it wasn't an exaggeration. Brad had left a stack of papers on your desk followed by aggravated comments about your work pace as if you could be going any faster despite the fact that you already took no breaks.
"You don't have much friends here do you?" Jed asked making you feel somewhat embarrassed.
"No, I- I just don't have the time much and since I haven't lived here for long I haven't talked to many people," you replied quietly.
"I get that. Hey, I don't mean to bring it up if it bothers you. I just wanna make sure you're alright since you're new and all. Plus, a lot of people don't go out much anymore thanks to the murders," Jed said trying to make you feel a bit more comfortable. It would have worked if you hadn't gotten a visit from the very thing that kept this town in fear.
"It's ok. I appreciate it," you replied as he pulled the car up to the coffee shop. He held the door open to the shop like he had last time and just like that you had forgotten about what was bothering you. The two of you sat in the same booth as last time and ordered your food.
"So you finally get your cinnamon bun," you said trying to keep the conversation going.
"Finally. It's sold out almost every day by the time I get here," he laughed. "So I know you like to be secretive about your stories but how's it going? Do you plan on getting anything published soon?" he asked and you felt a bit bad for not saying much before.
"Sorry I haven't really said much. I just feel like people treat me differently when they know what I write about. Not everyone loves horror," you replied truthfully.
"I completely understand. There's still a lot of people who misunderstand the genre. It's easy to just blame things on movies or books. It lets people have a reason without ever looking at actual problems," Jed said and for a second you felt like no one understood you better.
"Exactly! And especially now with everything going on. It- it feels like people forget that it's not the same. They just cast it aside like it's the cause," you replied your excitement toning down as you remembered what Ghostface had said. He loved your stories. At least, that's what he claimed. Maybe he just said it to frighten you. So you knew he had been in your home.
"So what made a sweet girl like you get into horror?" Jed asked making you blush again.
"I don't know. I just felt drawn to it. Which is kind of ironic with how easily I get scared," you replied and he chuckled.
"I can tell. You seemed jumpy at work," he replied casually but it only reminded you again. You didn't want to continue to think about it. You wanted to forget about the interaction but it seemed to pierce through your thoughts every time you tried to avoid it.
"Yeah. Everyone is gonna think I'm crazy," you said making him laugh. "So do you like horror?" you questioned as Bill walked up to your table and set the coffees and food down.
"Anything else I can get the two of ya?" he asked but the both of you nodded no and he walked off.
"I watch horror movies sometimes if I get the chance. Theres actually a video store I go to around here that I go to occasionally," Jed replied and your ears perked up.
"Oh! Where?" you asked excitedly.
"It's kind of around the mall downtown," he said and you felt a little confused. You hadn't gone out enough to know where exactly. He must have noticed and tried to offer more directions before eventually chuckling before adding "if you want I can take you sometime after work."
"You don't have to it's fine," you said although you loved the idea.
"I don't mind. Maybe we could even pick out some movies to watch together," he said and though you were excited you were also a bit nervous.
"Yeah that sounds good. I'm free this Friday," you replied and he smiled.
"Me too," he said.
The rest of the lunch was followed by more small talk and when you got back to work you spent it organizing supplies that the office had got in. When it was time to go home you couldn't help but feel terrified at the thought of another visit. The thought stayed in your head the whole ride home and you stayed parked outside of your house for a bit before finally deciding to enter. You locked the door behind you before walking throughout your home and making sure every door was locked and curtain closed. Although you didn't get any calls or visits you had a difficult time falling asleep.
