Danny sat and watched as his next victim, Michael, sat at his kitchen table. He had been looking at a newspaper and Danny tried to take note of anything around that could get in his way. He should have planned better but he wanted to get it over with. He wanted to get rid of his frustration. It would've worked better if he had just killed her. His anger grew as he tried to avoid the subject. He needed tonight to go well. After all this kill might have been his last. The reminder was like an alarm as it shot through his body. He didn't want it to be but he wasn't sure. Whether it was or not he was going to enjoy it. He wanted to savor it. Danny had picked him for a few reasons. One of them being he didn't live in Roseville. Danny still wasn't sure what he was going to do about her, but if he wanted to stop his usual work he figured it would be best if people had thought that the Ghostface had simply moved to another town. A sudden disappearance from him followed by Jed moving away after didn't seem like a great idea. So, Ghostface simply moving to other places first seemed like a better option. That was if he even decided to stop for good. He wanted to wait on this one, but he simply couldn't. No, he wanted to get it over with. The thoughts overwhelmed him and he let out a deep breath as he tried to focus on the task before him.
He shifted his weight a bit to the left as he sat crouched behind some bushes in Michaels overgrown garden. It made for a perfect hiding spot. The bushes were tall and untrimmed. The yard was a wreck filled with old paint cans and gardening tools strewn about. He breathed slowly trying to control himself as he could feel the anticipation build. This was not a time for any mistakes. Especially since Danny hadn't even gotten the time to scope out the place well enough. He knew he had to be extremely careful. Normally Danny didn't like doing things on impulse. He didn't like doing anything too emotionally. It never worked out the same, but he couldn't take just sitting at home anymore. Maybe, if he lived with her he could just cuddle up and watch a movie with her to distract him.
"Nows not the time to think of that," he thought to himself as he tried to focus. He watched intently as Michael moved around his kitchen fixing himself a drink before sitting back down. This was his moment. Danny quietly moved over to the mans back sliding door. He stood against the wall next to it as to not be seen and then grabbed the rock that he had picked up from the ground to throw it. It made a loud clanking sound against the man's shed and Danny could immediately hear the sliding of the kitchen chair against the floor. Footsteps followed soon after and he knew Michael was already looking out into the backyard. Danny expected the man to walk out but he didn't. Instead he heard footsteps again followed by the sliding of the chair against the wood floor.
"Fucking idiot," Danny grumbled before he looked around noticing a tin can disposed on the ground near him. He picked it up and gave it a few moments before throwing it at the shed. This time the sound was louder and there was no way Michael would just ignore it. There was the sliding of the chair again. He heard Michael's footsteps approach until finally he saw the glass door slide open. He pressed himself closer to the wall as he watched Michael peek out.
"Who's out there?" He said in his gruff southern tone. Danny stayed quiet as the man stepped out ever so slightly. "Damn animals," he said as he peered around. Danny felt giddy as he watched the man walk forward not even trying to look around well enough. This was too easy. Everyone was far too easy. He slowly stepped forward making sure he was quietly as could be. Michael stood there with his back against Danny. Unassuming. Oblivious. Danny stood behind the man. He took deep breaths. He tested the waters. Wanted to see how long it would take the man to notice. Instead, he let his bloodlust take over as he raised his boot and shoved it directly into the man's back.
The man let out a yelp in surprise as Danny quickly used the momentum to tackle the man to the ground. Dirt slid across Michael's face as his head knocked against the ground below him. He had tried letting out a scream, but he was quickly quieted as Danny knocked his head back into the ground. Michael's mouth filled with the dirt below him as he felt Danny's weight press him into the ground.
"The bigger they are the harder the fall," Danny joked feeling his anticipation grow. This was the fun part. Just as Danny raised his knife and tried to stab it in the man's back Michael quickly bucked backwards and elbowed Danny in the gut. Danny felt his anger grow as he quickly tried to pin Michael back down, though to his dismay the man had managed to turn ever so slightly and smack Danny straight across the mask. It disoriented him and though he tried to stabilize himself quickly the man still had enough time to start getting up. Danny swung his knife relentlessly until it dug into the back of the man's calf causing him to scream.
"Shut the fuck up!" Danny growled as he pulled the knife back out. Though Michael managed to fully stand up at this point limping as he hurried to his house. Pained grunts left him as he made his way inside. Danny stood back up off the ground and rushed behind barely managing to catch up as the man tried to slam the door shut crushing Danny's hand. He grunted as he looked up at the man. His eyes were wide with fear and his breath was heavy as he stumbled backwards.
"I-It's y-you! That g-ghost!" He stumbled backwards still limping from his leg injury. He turned quickly and headed towards his room as Danny slammed open the back door and ran after him. His boots were loud as he rushed through the house chasing after the man. The stomping sound filled the air as it crashed against the hardwood floor. As the man tried to close the room door Danny quickly pushed himself against it slamming Michael against the wall. He groaned as he was crushed between the door and the wall. Danny grinned under his mask as he pulled the door back again and slammed it back against the man who had tried to stabilize himself. "I-Im gonna fucking kill ya," the man shouted.
"I don't think you're in the position to let out any threats," Danny said and as he was about to slam the door again against the man as he pulled back he felt Michaels sudden weight press against the door sending Danny stumbling backwards. The door was slammed instantly and as Danny stabilized himself he rushed to push the door open.
His eyes widened under the mask at the sight of the man before him. Michael had made his way to his nightstand and quickly turned back around leaving Danny frozen at the sight of the gun clutched tightly in Michael's hand. Before he could even react a loud boom reverberated throughout the house as the man fired. Danny had already been charging forward though and quickly tackled the man to the ground. The gun knocked out of the mans hand and slid across the floor as Danny made no room for playful conversation. This had to end now. He raised the knife and quickly plunged it into the man's chest earning another gut wrenching scream. Danny pulled the knife back out before repeating the process. He continued until he heard a voice from below him.
"P-Please-" there she was. She was under him. She was bleeding out before him and Danny stopped momentarily to look at her. Her face was bruised and covered in blood. Tears flowed down her face as she held up her hand in defense. No. No this wasn't her. Danny shook his head as he cleared his thoughts. Michael sat there choking on his own blood unable to speak. His words came out in gurgles as Danny could feel his frustration rise.
He raised his knife again and plunged it over and over into the man unrelentingly. The blood splattered across his mask and the walls as he continued over and over again until the man was unrecognizable. Danny's breaths were shaky as he looked at the man on the ground before him. His eyes were wide open, but they were empty. Danny grimaced at how the man had almost got him. He stood up slowly and looked around the room at the sight before him. There was red everywhere. His coat was dripping from it. He could feel the sweat roll down his face from how tense things had gotten in the struggle. He let out a scoff at the man below him before he started to walk back out.
Danny felt empty. It frustrated him to no end. His kills were always satisfying, and yet he felt nothing as he quickly but quietly made his way back to his car. He didn't have time to do anything more thanks to the mans gunshot. It would definitely draw some attention. As he quickly jumped in his car he removed all his clothing dumping it in a plastic bag he had placed in his duffle. He sat back breathing heavily. He looked himself over hoping he wasn't shot and just didn't notice from the adrenaline. Nothing. He let out a sigh of relief before a small laugh escaped him. Fuck had he been lucky.
He took a moment to relax before he started the car and began to drive away. Just as he did so he noticed cop cars pulling into the street as he turned away. That had been too messy. If he had waited longer he would've known Michael had had a gun stowed away in his nightstand. He could've picked someone else or even broke in sooner to empty the chamber and magazine. It missed him though. What if it hadn't? He thought to himself. He stared at the road ahead of him as he thought about her. He couldn't stand the idea of something happening without telling her. He had to tell her.
