You heard a soft snore as your eyes opened slowly and you could feel Jed still holding you as he slept. He had stayed the night and you smiled as you remembered. You didn't want to wake him and instead tried to slowly move out of his grip but you failed as he started to move before his eyes opened and he looked curiously at you.
"Where you going?" he asked his morning voice making him sound deeper than usual.
"To make breakfast," you replied, happy he was awake yet you wished that it had remained a surprise.
"Let me help," he said as he started to get up but you put a hand on his chest.
"No, you do enough for me. Let me make it," you said but he still sat up.
"Well at least let me join you in the kitchen," he said before stretching his arms out and you nodded. You threw on his shirt and a new pair of panties from your drawer.
"It looks better on you than on me," he said making you smile. He had put his underwear on before the two of you walked out the room.
"I was thinking maybe some homemade waffles," you said as the two of you arrived in the kitchen.
"That sounds good," he said as he sat down on one of the chairs in the kitchen. You started to pull out some of the ingredients when he spoke again. "Are you sure you don't want any help?" he asked and you shook your head 'no'. He had already paid for dinner last night and you wanted to do something for him.
"Actually, would you um mind some light reading?" you asked nervously as you focused on the mixing bowl in front of you.
"Reading?" he asked sounding confused before he realized. "As in your stories?" he asked.
You still stared at the ingredients in front of you as you began to pour them in but you replied "yeah, I mean if you still want to," you said. You were nervous and it showed in your voice. Though, you couldn't help it as memories played over in your head. Friends laughing, one of the publishing companies back home saying you just weren't cut out for writing, and now you were worried what Jed had to say. You valued his opinion, especially because he was also a writer and a good one at that.
"I would love to," he replied and you turned to see him smiling. You felt nervous though you didn't want to make him wait any longer than he already had.
"Let me go get them," you said quickly before heading off into the room. When you walked back out you saw Jed looking out your kitchen window before turning back to you. You handed him one of your shorter stories that you had been working on before nervously going back to cooking.

Danny looked over the story she had handed him. It was one she had written recently but he had already read it one night when he snuck inside. It was one of his favorites so he didn't mind re-reading it while she cooked. He thought she had a knack for writing and understood why she was given the job at the gazette without prior experience or even a degree. Though, her ideas didn't seem to coincide with what most people wanted to read and pushed some limits even for the horror genre. As he continued to stare down at the words she had written down he admired her handwriting and all the small mistakes she had made in her work. He couldn't help but think about the stories he made, and how it would be if she helped him. He paused for a moment, unsure of how he felt. He got like this a lot lately. And it confused him. It frustrated him. How could she have such an effect on him? He could feel his emotions begin to take over and felt a slight unease at the fact. Something about her made him almost feel like he wasn't putting on an act as Jed. But rather, it felt more like an extension of him that he hadn't yet discovered. That she had awoken in him. Suddenly, all the small pleasantries life had to offer seemed more appealing.

"W-what do you think?" you asked nervously as Jed looked up with bright eyes. You stood there with the plate of waffles in your hands waiting for a response.
"I loved it," he said and your anxiety was slowly washed over with relief.
"Really?" you asked genuinely surprised.
"Really, I mean you're a great writer. Though, I am surprised that the main character would die. You don't see that often," he replied as you nodded.
"Yeah, I just thought it would be interesting. Difficult to write though. You kinda get attached," you said as you set down the plate of waffles in front of him.
"You pulled it off well though, definitely left some chills," he said making you smile.
"Do you want any syrup or coffee?" you asked and he nodded.
The rest of the day had gone by smoothly. After breakfast Jed stayed for a bit and read more of what you had written. Including old drafts and stuff you had written years ago that you thought were cheesy and he laughed along with you though still proclaiming they were good. You had decided at that point he was just being nice but he insisted otherwise saying "it just makes it like a dark comedy". You had watched some of the movies that he rented but spent a lot of time talking in between and he spent a lot of time simply staring at you and you couldn't help but blush whenever you noticed. After a while though Jed had to go and you couldn't help the twinge of sadness that you felt though, you understood, and smiled as you watched him walk down to his car. He waved at you again before getting in and you waved back and watched him drive off. As you closed the door behind you, you decided it would be best to just take a rest and maybe shower. You had gotten some Halloween decorations from the store where you shopped for work and decided you would probably put them up tomorrow as you didn't have much else to do and it wasn't far away.
