dear serena;
i've heard a lot about you. i've seen pictures of you, and read letters that you wrote, i've done it a lot. you were such an important person in all of our lives, and i don't think my mom would have ever let any of us kids forget that.

when my mother died, i promised her that i would keep her tradition going and that i would write when it was needed. she requested also, that i write to you on your birthday, which i planned on doing. i promised her that i would attach the letters to a balloon and send them into the beautiful starry, stunningly bright, night sky.

i love the stars, but i'm sure she's already told you that. i think she told you a lot about us kids. i bet she kept you updated.

but, since this is my first letter, i don't want to bore you. i should probably take my little baby girl to the pond now, since it's her favorite place to go. whitney loves looking into the pond at her reflection. something you liked to do, or at least that's what my mom used to tell me.

my mom raised such a strong family. all of us siblings are so close; and i kind of think she got that from you serena. she never wanted to lose any of us, especially camden. camden talks about my mom a lot, and she's taking it the hardest out of all of us. i told her that she could write to mom, or to you even, but she tells me that she's not a writer. she just likes to jog. she could jog forever, even though she's getting older.

we've been through tough times, but we get through them; we always do. mom was so special, and she'll live on in us kids forever.

just like you lived on in her. and now you will continue to live on, but in me, my sister and my brother; all until the whole world can see you and you legacy, just as my mom wanted. i promise. we love you.

mom loves you, so, so much.

goodnight serena.

- love, rena
