The bayou
It was barely sunrise when Kara and Hayley arrived at the bayou, the previous evenings events still playing on their minds, but this was something Kara would respect regardless of her avid dislike for the blonde haired wolf.
It was a tradition, one the crescents and the North Atlantic pack shared.
Kara nudged her fiancé "Go speak to him, else I believe he might drown himself in that bottle." She murmured looking at the distraught puppy.
Hayley hesitated before reluctantly sighing, above all Jack was still her friend. She kissed Kara softly before pulling back, her eye catching a face they saw last night.
"You should take your own advice." She pointed out.
Kara's jaw tensed "He's here because Esther brought him back."
"But this is your chance." Hayley added quietly "Take it." Was all she she said as she made her way to Jackson.
Kara sighed inwardly, her mind abnormally silent, it seemed Tyr had no words of wisdom to share today perhaps for this particular situation.
"I know you're there" she said tilting her head, she could practically scent him hundreds of miles away. His scent called to her , in a way that Klaus's did too.
A member of her pack.
"Princess."
Her eyes closed at the familiar nickname "I'm no princess.." she uttered before turning to face the man "Not anymore.."
Ansel looked down to his feet, before meeting Kara's eyes. They weren't the blue he remembered but there was no doubt this was his daughter "No.. I suppose it's best to call you a Queen now."
Kara's lips twitched ever so slightly , before turning her head away. She focused her gaze on the body wrapped in sheets. "This is a disgrace." She commented softly.
Ansel let out a breath "It is, wolves have forgotten their traditions, they've forgotten who they truly are." He replied leaning against his own tree "Have you?"
Kara shook her head "I may be a vampire, but I was a wolf first." She shot back with a small smirk before it fell "I had a pack of hybrids... mikael killed them all."
Ansel hands tightened at the mention of his killer "His alive?"
"Not anymore, I ended him myself." Kara confirmed "I took my revenge.." she glanced at her father "And yours.."
Ansel eyes softened "I have missed you."
Kara's heart ached at the familiar look of fatherly love and adoration "I'm not the person you once knew.. I've killed thousands.."
"And even then I'll never turn my eyes away. You will always be my daughter. My heir.." Ansel said without hesitation.
Kara swallowed harshly "Do you know?"
Ansel chuckled softly "I do, like my wolf calls to you, it calls to Niklaus and it calls to my granddaughter.. she is safe and unharmed.." he said with happy smile "You've done well.. I could not be prouder."
Kara looked down "You're proud?"
Ansel took the step and moved closer to his daughter , he tentatively reached and clasped her shoulder, Kara tensed but didn't move, Ansel took that as a good sign, like he did hundreds of times before he pressed his lips to the crown of her head. "I've never not been proud of the woman you've become.." he whispered "I've watched over you and your brother for a thousand years , I've watched your highs, your lows.. I've seen you eviscerate men who abused children.. I've seen you rain your own brand of justice upon them.. and I could not ever be prouder.. you have battled your demons and you have won.. I'm proud Kar.. so very proud of you.."
