San felt reality sinking in when he stopped the car in front of a big building in the middle of nowhere in the woods, both of his hands on the steering wheel with a hard grip.

So there he was. In front of his fathers oh so successful achievements, a big mansion with an expensive car outside and guards. He let out a small snort at that and rolled his eyes. He felt Wooyoung's confused gaze on him, but he couldn't hide it. It was just so hard to hide your hatred towards a person you loathed so much.

But he didn't want anyone to know. Nobody could know. That he was the son of a drug dealer, of a criminal. That he ran away from an abusive home when he was just a teenager. That he grew up alone. What would they think of him? What would Wooyoung think of him? Probably that he wasn't worth the love otherwise his father wouldn't have let him go. Or his mother would have stood up for him. Probably that he was just as bad as his father, that he was cruel and just cold hearted as he seemed from outside.

He wasn't afraid of people finding out. He was ashamed. So badly that he wouldn't look anyone he knew into the eyes, because of the guilt he felt for his fathers doings. Killing people for not paying the given drugs, living with violence, controlling people and playing with their life's. He felt ashamed to have the same blood as him as a detective, as someone who should fight for justice but instead being the cruelty himself.

His father was a dangerous man and since the day he had ran away he felt fear and extreme hatred towards the men the society would call father. It motivated him to keep fighting. Fighting for himself and all the victims of the cruel hell we name life.
For him, there was nothing he feared more than his own father and to overcome this, he knew he had to face him for once and for all.

"Are you okay?" Wooyoung had asked him before they entered with those dark concerning eyes, that made San feel like saying no for once. To say the truth for once in life and to not think about the consequences that would come with it. It was so normal for him to pretend he was strong and didn't care when he was just human, too. And something in his eyes, something deep within him, made him feel like he could do just that.

But life wasn't that simple. He couldn't pretend there were no consequences in saying the truth. He knew with an answer there would be more questioning. Questions he didn't have answers to. So he did what he was best at, and that was pretending. With a cold shoulder and an eye roll, that was nothing that wouldn't irritate others and give up in caring.

He still felt the concerned gaze fixated on him and wondered why it didn't seem to work anymore.

So the actual plan was: first they sent off an undercover team to go to the location for the business deal to get as many information as possible. Through that they had him distracted at least and somehow get rid of his guards and check the place to find Soo-min. It wasn't the best plan they ever had, but it was enough to get an idea of what they should expect of him and every minute was important to find her.

They already managed to get inside through some guards and made their way to the staircase leading into the basement. He probably wouldn't be hiding anyone in the top rooms, San guessed.

"How would you know? This is a mansion with god knows how many rooms. We should check the top at least," Wooyoung argued in a whisper and San had the strong urge to roll his eyes at him, but he knew it wasn't the time to argue with him. He couldn't explain to him, why he expected him to hide his victims in the basement anyway, so he let it be.

When there was no other response coming from San, Wooyoung didn't want to waste any more time and stepped out form behind the wall to go into the next hallway. What he had missed though, was the guard passing at that exact moment by that hallway and San immediately pulled him back by his wirst and pushed them inside the door behind them. After he closed it behind them he glanced back at Wooyoung with wide frustrated eyes. Before he said anything he waited for the footsteps to fade away.
