The room was quiet , the only sound echoing through the walls were the hurried steps of San and Wooyoung trying one last time to open the door to a specific room. The lock was made of a thicker material unlike the other locks, making it difficult to open."How didn't we notice sooner! She definitely must be in there," Wooyoung panicked when the door didn't move. San began checking its way of opening and finds that the only way of opening the door is by finding the needed key.
"Key? We don't have time," Wooyoung said with a troubled expression and before they could act, there came a sound from upstairs. Both looked in panic at each other and San dropped the lock.
"Listen. We have to get out of here before anyone notices us. We will get Soomin later," San hurriedly tried to explain, but Wooyoung was shaking his head in denial. His brows were furrowed and he took a hold of San's wrist in desperation.
"No, you listen, we have to take her with us. We don't know in what state she is in right now and how they are treating her! She's just a child." San kept his eyes on the stairs, not being able to meet his intense determined gaze. He knew it was impossible to find the key in this short amount of time while the officer was waiting for them outside and there were guards upstairs, probably soon making their way downstairs, too. San got another message, saying the deal just ended and he's making his way outside now.
San looked up at the pleading gaze of Wooyoung and took the hand that was holding his wirst, "Wooyoung, we can't right now. I promise we'll come back soon." Wooyoung scoffed with tear filled eyes and looked away. He stared at the door and San hated that he couldn't do anything about it. Wooyoung than hesitantly nodded and when they were about to find an exit, there were steps coming down. San took Wooyoung by his hand and dragged him to a corner.
He looked around in search for a window and found a small one at the top. Wooyoung followed his gaze and than shook his head. "We wouldn't fit through that." "Yes, we would."
San helped Wooyoung climb the wall up to the window by crouching down allowing him to climb on his back. When he managed to get there he slipped his legs outside first followed by the rest of his body just in time when the guards made it downstairs. He landed on the ground and panicked when San was left inside. It was quiet for a while and Wooyoung anxiously glanced up. Suddenly, San came climbing down, too, but before Wooyoung could react, San grabbed his hand and dragged him with him.
They exited the garden and ran off to the car waiting outside. They slipped inside and the officer drove off. San tried to catch his breath and glanced to Wooyoung only to find him staring out the window with sadness in his eyes. He let out a quiet breath and glanced away, down to his fiddling hands on his lap. He furrowed his brows in confusion of the feeling he felt inside his chest. It felt like something was tearing him apart inside seeing Wooyoung like this. He guessed it must be that he hated doing disappointing work and Wooyoung reminded him of his chief when he was still a beginner.
He shook his head and stared out the window. He did, what he did best. Sweeping away any arising feelings out the way.

When they decided they would call it a day and speak about details on the following day, Wooyoung protested.
"You think Soomin can wait?" He asked in disbelief.
"It's all we can do for today. They heard me when I left by the window. They are probably checking the camera records and making sure there are more guards. We can't do anything but wait."
San tried to explain and he hated that he was being the bad guy here, but he saw Wooyoung's exhausted expression. He was already burdened by the news of his brother getting sick and not being able to pay the costs and now he was worrying about Soomins well being when there was nothing they could do to help right now."Let's wait just a bit for the situation to cool down. And.." San hesitated when Wooyoung didn't answer. "...I know he wouldn't kill her yet. He would do anything to get that money." At that Wooyoung glanced up at him, but all San could do was avoid his eyes.
"You should probably get inside now," San glanced out the window towards the entrance of Wooyoung's apartment. Wooyoung let out a sigh and exited the car. San watched him making his way towards the entrance and when they were about to drive away, San signalled the officer to wait. Wooyoung stopped in front of the door, reading a paper that was stuck on it.
He furrowed his eyebrows when he watched Wooyoung go through his hair in frustration and crouching down with his hands covering his face. San immediately undid his buckle and opened the car door. He made his way towards Wooyoung in hesitation and looked at the paper stuck on the door. Wooyoung's name was displayed on the paper and he noticed that he wouldn't be able to enter his own apartment if he doesn't pay the last three months rent or it would get taken away.
His chest hurt again when he looked down to Wooyoung crouching on the floor and got to his height. He hesitated to put his hand on his shoulder, but when he finally did, Wooyoung glanced up with tears staining his face in question only to find San with a soft gaze looking down at him. His eyes went to the paper stuck there and then back to San. Tears started welling up once again when he noticed how pathetic he must seem to San right now.
Now he knows. That he's just a poor guy, not being able to pay for himself or to take care of his own brother. Now he knows that he's so unworthy, god, he wouldn't even be able to look himself in the mirror at this point.
San noticed his tears streaming down his face again and Wooyoung immediately hid his sob in his hands again. He noticed that he was ashamed of himself right now and his heart broke. He didn't know what he should do, so the only thing he could think of, was to help Wooyoung up and back inside the car again.
When they were back inside, the officer didn't comment on Wooyoung's state when San threw a warning gaze at him. He gave his own address to the officer and when they took off he couldn't look away from Wooyoung.
Tears were streaming nonstop and Wooyoung tried to silence them, but there was nothing he could do, it felt like there was a growing lump in his throat and he had the urge to scream. He hated everything. He was tired of everything. He was tired of constantly disappointing everyone around him, of never being able to get his life together, of everyone having power over his life and he being the only one not being in control of his own life. He was tired of all the pitying gazes everyone gives him all the time. He was tired of carrying all the weight life threw at him on his back.
He felt like he was suffocating and there was no end to this endless cycle.

The car stopped and Wooyoung lifted his head in question. He didn't even know where they were heading to, too busy with all the fears clouding his mind to even care. He glanced at San, who was already staring at him.
"Do you have a place to stay? I-.. I didn't want to assume," San hesitantly told him and questioningly looked at him with a careful gaze. Wooyoung thought about it, but Mingi was on Night Shift today, probably wouldn't even pick up the phone. It was late and Wooyoung didn't know where to go to. When he realised he was not only homeless, but also didn't have a place to stay in he felt the tears welling up once again. San panicked and undid his buckle, moving forward a little.
"Don't cry, if you don't have a place to stay for today, you can stay here for a while." Wooyoung looked up in surprise.
"Are you sure? I thought you wouldn't like me to be near you all day long." Wooyoung wiped away the tears when San let out a light chuckle. Not because of what he said, but the paradox that was himself.
He thought the same, but now thinking about it, he didn't know why his heart was picking up its rate. He's one weird man, he smiled to himself.
