That night it was good to say San didn't sleep that well. After he went into his room, ready to sleep the days stressful events away, there were those bugging words of Yeosang clouding his mind and preventing him to rest for a minute. He stood up, leaving his room at midnight and after making sure Wooyoung was fast asleep on the couch, he tiptoed his way into his office. He didn't know why only now he got to the point of searching for Wooyoung's name even though he had been so critical about him. He was always questioning the fact, why out of all people Wooyoung managed to aim a place by the most prestigious detectives and work along side him without any experience. The high education wasn't so much of a good excuse given the fact that he himself was a high achiever. He still had to work his rank up to where he was right now. Of course he got convinced the slightest bit after seeing the actual professional Wooyoung, but now that Yeosang reminded him of his former opinions there was no way he could let it rest.
Knowing the school Wooyoung had graduated from he started searching for him there and he actually found an article promoting their best graduate. It was nothing special, just the usual sayings.
He remembered when he first met Wooyoung the officer that handed him the proof that Wooyoung wasn't an actual criminal and there were listed some information he couldn't quite remember as he had only looked at his criminal record. He went to his shelf with all kinds of folders, containing information about each case he had dealt with and looked for Wooyoung's name.
He had to be in here as San was always cautious about his job. He continued searching the shelf from top to bottom until his sight landed on the name Wooyoung. The folder was quite slim as there wasn't so much to write about him so it was hard to spot but as he went through the folder he halted at one name.
Jung Jae Seok. The father of Jung Wooyoung.
He knew that name. San's hands began trembling harshly as it began becoming stuffy in the room. His heart began hammering against his chest as he ran over to his desk and tried opening that one drawer that required a key to open.
"Shit shit shit." He began searching for his key abruptly and even though he knew were it was, his brain couldn't seem to function properly with the anxiety that was clouding his mind. He stood hastily, accidentally knocking his chair over. He winced at the thought of waking up Wooyoung and pulled out a specific book on his shelf and flipped through the pages in search for the key.
When he finally managed to open the drawer, pull out the folder with the name Choi Jong dae, and carefully open it with the fear that all his anxieties would be confirmed he was faced with the same name of Wooyoung's father, Jung Jae seok. There it was, the picture with both of them arm in arm with the team surrounding them.
San dropped the folder with a sigh, his head falling into his hands with a frustrated growl. Fate had to be playing evil games with him. It had to be a bad joke and it felt like April fools day even when he knew it wasn't the case.
His father was a friend of Wooyoung's father and he knew damn well what was up. He knew Jung Jae seok was a former officer and he knew the young people on the picture portrayed the trainees of his father's illegal business.
Guilt rose in his chest and he shut his eyes in regret. How could he had he been so careless? Why didn't he search about Wooyoung's identity before letting his walls down?
He cursed at himself and kicked his desk in anger towards himself as the thought entered his mind. He knew he should have never let his guard down, but of course. San just couldn't put his emotions aside, could he? Years of distance and loneliness were all useless after all. He should have never warm up to Wooyoung or whatever this was. It was all his fault, he was to blame for letting things to get this far and now he didn't know how to look Wooyoung into the eyes.
