The first night at San's place was the hardest. As it slowly was getting late and they were already tried from the mission they had on the same day, they got ready for bed after cleaning the mess in the kitchen.

For San it was a weird experience. Firstly, he never had someone come over at his place other than Yeosang. He liked to live in peace by his self without having to worry of other people. Secondly, he never thought about inviting the Jung Wooyoung over. The same annoying, loud mouthed guy he didn't trust. There were just too many suspicious things about him he couldn't explain. Especially the weird warm feelings he gets when he is around. He guessed that must have been a sign to be careful of Wooyoung.

But here he was, carefree and so close to his real self in front of someone he was suspicious of (Keyword: was). Because he couldn't help himself and the feelings he gets when Wooyoung is around. The need to be himself and have fun. To enjoy life to its fullest and forget all the past traumas that were hunting him. Forget the revenge and hate he was living for all this time. It was scary when he thought about it. How fast Wooyoung got him wrapped around his fingers and he saw all the efforts of distancing himself from other people all this time vanishing before his eyes.

It was useless after all, fighting the loneliness till this day only for Wooyoung to hit him with this feeling again. He was just really really lonely and every time he looked at Wooyoung and his love towards people he really gets to see it again, because in comparison to Wooyoung, he hated people all his life since he was left alone without anyone to turn to. He hated loving, giving and caring since then. He was just afraid of loosing someone again if he trusts. He was afraid so the only thing he could do was to put every person around him to a distance. Even if it meant staying lonely.

So as he looked at Wooyoung laying on the couch with the blanket he gave him to stay warm for the night all he felt was confusion. Why now? Why does he suddenly allow someone to come and throw his years of efforts away? Why is he only watching it unfold in front of him?

For Wooyoung, the first night was the hardest. Now that there was nothing to distract him from the reality, he was left alone in the night with destructive thoughts and feelings. He was hit with the reality. He really could not get the job done and save Soo-min. He really could not get his life together and pay his own bills. He couldn't even take care of his brother. And now he even embarrassed himself in front of San.

There was guilt, shame and anger clouding his mind and he couldn't close one eye without the thoughts getting to him. He felt lost and lonely, there was no one he could turn into when he felt like the world was against him. No one to hold him and comfort him, no one to tell him that everything is going to be alright. After his father died, the world was only a big black pit he continued falling into.

For Wooyoung, it was the same. The fear of letting people in. It was the lost of loved ones to injustice for him to keep him up until this day and to fight for revenge. Both only survived till this day to bring justice to their pain.

But he noticed himself getting distracted from his plan. He came here to bring his fathers death justice, but all he was doing was enjoying his time as a detective. And then there was San, the biggest distraction of them all. He just couldn't do all the bad stuff behind his back while acting innocent in front of him. He felt disgusting and guilty.

Wooyoung opened his eyes again for the tenth time that night, unable to sleep, because he just realized. He had to focus on his plan if he didn't want to loose more people. He couldn't spare San's feelings and put him first when Kyungmin was in danger. There was no way he could feel something towards San other than hatred if he didn't want to make things even more complicated than it was.

He looked around and saw the door to San's bedroom closed and the lights off and slowly got up. He looked around in the apartment closely for anything work related. San had to know something of the case back than, there was no way he didn't come across that. Or he had to have information about Choi, more than he had.

He walked through the hallway and checked every room quietly until he came across his office with a desk and many shelves filled with folders and books. He went inside and closed the door and started researching. There was a shelter filled with folders sorted by the year. His eyes scanned every folder before he came across the one he was searching for. 2018.

He opened the folder and looked through the information but they were the same as the once he found at the police station a while ago. So San knew of the case, that was for sure.
When he didn't find anything he moved to his desk and began checking the drawers. One specific drawer caught his eyes. It had a lock on it, but he was glad that the key was still inserted. San probably didn't plan guests to come over.

Inside he found a folder with Choi Jong-dae written on it boldly. He furrowed his eyebrows at the name. It was so familiar, but he couldn't remember where he once heard the name. He noticed the thickness of the folder and opened it only to be greeted by the picture of the man hated the most. Choi.

When he continued looking through the folder he was surprised at the amount of information San had about him. His whole life was documented on these papers and Wooyoung felt like the world was on his side for the first time in his life as he began taking pictures of the pages.

Apparently he had a son born in the same year as him, a wife that left years ago and a big business. He earned a whole lot of money by doing drugs, illegal stuff they didn't have proof of because he was good at his business. He even could fool the police with the amount of money he earned.

He continued scanning the pages until he came across of a picture. He held in a breath as he saw Choi with a big smile on his face and with his arm thrown over the person beside him, Wooyoung's dad, who also had a big smile on his face. They were surrounded by younger people, like a team.

Wooyoung felt his heart shattering at the sight. So Choi was right after all. They were acquaintances, friends even. So he was really involved in dark business, right?

Wooyoung shook his head at the thought, not wanting to believe such accusations. His father was a detective, he could have been trying to fool Choi to get information out of him. Wooyoung trembled as he continued scrolling through the pages and was surprised when he found ever single day of Choi documented on the following pages.

How the hell did San find all these informations? Why was he so obsessed in taking him down to watch his every move?

There was also the fact that he kept this folder in an extra drawer with a lock in it, even though he was one of the many criminals he was dealing with. Now that he thought about it, San also reacted weirdly when he saw Choi in his office when they were on mission. He seemed to doze off when he saw him there and his reaction was weird, because San was never one to loose focus on work.

There had to be some connection between San and this man, why else would he act so differently about one of the many criminals he was dealing with?
