~Lennox~
Zahara stares at me, waiting for me to tell her what's going on. I have to admit that I don't really know what to say. I know Cory has had no formal training and that his wolf has been forced down for so long. I also know that Cory is of Alpha blood, but I wasn't prepared for what happened. I wasn't prepared for what I experienced today.
*Flashback*
"Good job, Cory. Make sure you put your weight on that back foot and put all of your power into your swing." Cory is taking direction really well; I have to say. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He is used to taking orders, and his Alpha blood makes him a bit of a natural. Cory is a quick study, and that will make this process go a lot smoother.
Cory continues to practice the moves I have been teaching him when we are interrupted by the last voice I really want to hear. "Well, look at what we have here boys......the wolfless wonder!" Shit......the terrible trio. How is it that they made their way here? We are not in the training area because Cory wanted this to be done privately, and we made our way out to a private area in the woods.
"What are you three doing out here?" Frankie smirks at me, but Justin looks a bit nervous.
"We didn't know you were out here. We will go." Justin turns around, but Frankie stops him. Len, of course, doesn't move at all. He is almost like a robot; he needs a command in order to do something.
"We were just taking a stroll; no harm in that. Maybe we can help with the training." I roll my eyes. Frankie always has something to say. I swear my life would be a lot easier if they would just find a new pack. I could use my power as the future Beta, but it doesn't seem to be the right idea.
I turn to look at Cory, and he is quietly staring at the three. I can see his jaw clenching, and his hands fisting at his sides. I turn back to the trio. "There is no need. I have this under control." Frankie walks towards us with Justin trying, unsuccessfully, to get him to stop. He stops right in front of Cory, looking him up and down.
"Come on. Let me show you how a wolf fights. You may learn something. Right, boys?" Frankie turns to his two minions and looks back at Cory. Cory isn't moving, and he isn't talking. Maybe he is blanking out like he did the first time he was approached by the three. I start to make my way closer to Cory so I can intervene if necessary. Cory is just learning how to fight, and there is no way he will be able to keep up with Frankie. He has been training for a long time now.
I make my way to the side of Cory and Frankie. I'm in arms reach of both if need be. Cory's silence is chilling, and it is pissing Frankie off. "Hello! Are you deaf now as well as wolfless?" Cory doesn't respond, and Frankie doesn't like that.
"Come on, Frankie. Let's just go. Lennox has this covered I'm sure," Justin says while looking from us to the area behind him. It almost seems as if he is waiting for someone to come into the woods.
"NO! We are always told to help others and we should be willing to help the wolfless wonder." Frankie lifts his hand and starts to poke Cory in the chest. "Isn't that right, wolfless wonder?" Suddenly, a growl rings in my ear that shakes the ground a bit. I look around to try to locate where it is coming from. Everyone else is looking for the source as well, everyone except for Cory. Faster than I would have believed, Cory grabs Frankie's arm and twists it so that Frankie's back is against his chest. Frankie screams out and is holding his shoulder. Justin looks to be in shock, and Len starts to make his way over to help.
"Don't come any closer." A low, scratchy voice speaks, and I swear I never thought Cory could sound like that. I don't move because, to be honest, I'm scared shitless. "You get off on messing with people don't you? Well, I've had enough. You will submit to me." I look at Cory, and his eyes are flickering between black and brown. This must be his wolf, but I swear this is unlike anything I've ever experienced.
"F....fffuck you! I sub...submit to no...no one." Frankie is red-faced, and spit is flying out of his mouth. He looks like he is in so much pain. Cory doesn't flinch, but he seems to tighten his hold on Frankie, making him whimper. I hear a crack, and Frankie screams out, Cory pushing him to the ground. Frankie starts to roll around, holding his arm. It's clearly broken, and Frankie is feeling the pain.
Len starts to run toward Cory, but he doesn't move or flinch. All of a sudden heavy air surrounds us. It is bone-crushing, and none of us can stay on our feet. Len drops right in front of Cory, with his neck exposed. Justin drops into the same position, and I can feel my wolf submitting. I have submitted to many Alphas in my time, but none have been this strong. Cory starts to walk towards the packhouse, and eventually, the weight is lifted. I take a deep breath to fill my lungs. Not only was his aura ridiculously strong, but I also felt as if I was suffocating. I stand up and look around. Frankie is rolling on the ground in pain. Len and Justin are struggling to their feet. I run after Cory.
*End of Flashback*
I tell Zahara everything that happened, and her eyes keep getting bigger and bigger. She is in awe, and I don't blame her. Cory may not know his wolf, but he is definitely not someone to mess with. He is stronger than any of us could ever imagine.
