By the time our people got set up and got the drones going, it was early morning. The Wild Tail territory is pretty expansive, and it would take a while to get the footage we need. We are recording the footage, but the men on the ground are also checking the footage live. We are trying to find where the cabin is, as well as where the guards are throughout the territory.
I barely slept during the night, extremely anxious about my mate. I know I need to rest up and be prepared to get her back, but it's hard to be without my mate right now. Lennox made the choice to take over morning training, and I'm grateful for that. I don't think I could be focused on training, and I'm not skilled enough to take Zahara's spot.
I go through the day in a funk. I try to focus on some of the work that Zahara had on her desk, but it is all Greek to me. I have been training with Luna Amara and then Alpha Byron. I know some of the ins and outs of running a pack, but I could use a lot more training. I'm seriously behind when it comes to training to take over, but I know I can be of help to Zahara. I just need her here to guide me. A knock on the door interrupts my busy thoughts. I grunt as an answer.
"Hey, how are you holding up?" I sigh and lay my head back.
"I'm here, but not here. How did training go?" A dry chuckle escapes Lennox's lips. I look at him, wondering what that was about.
"Uh, dude, you asked me that around lunch time." I sit up straight in the chair and start to search the desktop for my phone.
"What the hell time is it?"
"It's midnight. You've been in here all day." Holy shit! How the hell did the day get away from me? "You need to go get some rest. I know it's hard to do with Zahara gone, but you need to try." I sigh again. Lennox is right, but how can I rest?
"Do we have anything? Have the drones picked anything up?"
"We are still searching the packlands. We have had to had a few times, and searching during the day is more dangerous than night time." I growl and slam my fist on the desk, causing a crack to run through it. I guess I will need to get Zahara a new desk.
"I want some information!"
"I know you do and I swear we will get it." I get up from the chair and walk over to the couch. I plop down and place my arm over my eyes.
"I want to be alerted as soon as something is found. I will stay here and try to rest."
"Of course." I hear the door close, and I try my hardest to let sleep take over.
~Laslo~
I can't believe that loser called last night to challenge me, an Alpha of all people. Does he not remember being beaten, nearly to death, more than once in his life? I'm the one who issued those beatings, so how could he think he could challenge me? It's laughable at best.
On top of that, I had to see about those two men that were left to watch me. I had to put them to sleep yesterday so I could bring Zahara to the cabin. Then I had to explain why and how they lost so much time. What explanation could I really give that would be plausible? None, of course, so I just locked them in the dungeons. What else could I do? Pretty soon, this will all be worked out, and everything will be as it should be.
I've spent the day being Alpha and making sure no one is none the wiser when it comes to everything going on around here. I don't want everyone to be aware of what's going on. I will need to get Zahara on board before letting the pack know who their Luna is. We will have to make a plan to join the packs as well, but that can wait until later.
I haven't heard from the elders, which is a good thing. They must not have any worries at the moment. I can't say that I was aware of how often their informants checked in, but it must not have been throughout the day, which is to my benefit. I have my mom keeping an eye on that. Once the elders start to ask questions, we will need to make a move.
I glance out of the window and see that it's dark outside. I look at my phone and see that it's 3 A.M. It's a perfect time to check on my Luna to be. I tidy my desk up and head out to the cabin. On my journey, I make sure that no one is watching me and no one sees where I'm going.
I slowly approach the cabin and notice all of the lights were out. I stand still and listen, but nothing meets my ears besides the natural sounds of the forest at night. I quietly make my way to the front door and slowly turn the knob. I open the door as silently as possible and take a timid step inside, listening for any type of noise. The only thing I can make out is deep breathing coming from the living room. I walk inside the cabin and quietly close the door behind me.
I let my eyes adjust to the darkness and see that everything is in its place. This isn't like last night when I was met with yelling and a bookend in the back of my head. I make my way to the living room and notice a body on the couch. As I get closer, I can tell that it's Zahara. She's sprawled out on the couch, sleeping deeply. She looks like a brown-skinned goddess. Her scent is soft and floral. Zahara has her plump lips open slightly and a hand on her chest. Her tank top has risen, exposing her firm stomach. Her shorts are short enough to expose her thick thighs. I can feel myself harden at the sight of Zahara sleeping. I take a seat in the armchair across from her and get comfortable.
