~Nona~
I creep down the hall that leads to the front of the house. I was up using the restroom when I heard a sound. It was a soft clicking, and if I had been asleep, I wouldn't have heard it. I try not to go too far down the hall because I don't want my scent detected too soon. I bet my mate is here, but I don't hear any voices.
I stop walking and stretch out a bit to see around the wall, and I was right. Laslo is sitting in the armchair across from the couch where Zahara is asleep. He is just sitting there, watching her. It is actually pretty creepy, and it makes me wonder if he has ever done that to me.
He has. Nero has mentioned it a few times when he has been trying to talk to me.
A shudder goes down my spine. How creepy is it to know that someone has sat and just watched you sleep? It's different if it were after a lovemaking session and one party wakes up early and basks in your radiance. We are talking about creeping through a house in the dead of night and sitting, watching, and the person being watched doesn't even know it. Creepy!
I step forward slightly because I want him to know I'm here. I can tell the minute my scent hits him. "She doesn't want you, you know," I whisper into the darkness.
"Stay out of it, it doesn't concern you."
"She doesn't want you. She only wants her mate."
"He is weak and has nothing. I can give her more than he can even imagine." I scoff.
"Do you think that's all that matters, what you can give her? Do you not think that your actions are more concerning? You kidnapped her, and you kidnapped me. I'm sure that would outweigh anything you could give her." Laslo turns toward me but doesn't move from the chair.
"Are you jealous? Do you think that with Zahara here, there will be no place for you?" My breath catches in my throat. I want to clear it, but I'm afraid that I may throw up as well. Jealous?! "I told you I will give you everything that you want. You are my mate, and I will treat you as such. You can even have all of the babies you want. I just need you to wait until I get this stuff in order."
"Are you fucking insane? You......I......." I'm so angry I can't form words. How could he ever think that I would want him, especially after everything? How could he think that I'd be okay playing second fiddle in his life? "I fucking despise you! You are the worst person I have ever met in my life. You are ugly and hateful. You think you can get anything you want just because you want it. That isn't attractive; that is fucking disgusting. You killed my baby because it didn't fit in with your plans. You are lower than shit, and if you don't think she can see that you are even more delusional that I thought." I can't stand here anymore. If I stay here, I will flip out and try my hardest to claw his eyes out. I wish I could leave here, go for a run, something. All I can do is retreat into my room and try not to drown in the shower.
I walk down the hall, but before I get out of ear range, I hear Zahara. "She's right, you know? I could never want you." A smile of satisfaction spreads across my face as I walk the rest of the way to my room.
~Zahara~
I could smell him as soon as he walked into the house, but I didn't want to deal with him, so I pretended to be asleep. Pretending became pretty difficult once I realized he just planned to sit and watch me sleep. How creepy is that?
The conversation between Laslo and Nona wouldn't have been on my radar if I wasn't already awake. Everything she said to him was right, and I'm sure she left some things out. "What did you say?" I open my eyes and look at Laslo in the dark. He is sitting up and leaning forward in the chair.
"I said she's right. I could never want you. I didn't want you in high school, and I don't want you now." Laslo slumps in his seat and groans.
"Your mate will be out of the picture soon, so if that's what the issue is, don't worry about that." What the hell is he talking about? He plans to hurt Cory? I tell myself to remain calm. The last thing I need to do is lose my shit. I need to figure out a way out of here, and I can't do that if I'm flying off of the handle.
"Even if I hadn't met my fated mate, I still wouldn't want you. You have always given me the creeps and my inner person has always told me to stay clear of you. You are not a desirable person to be around, let alone be mated to. I mean, look at what you did to your mate when you finally found her. How long has she been locked up here anyway?"
A growl escapes Laslo and fills the room. It makes me want to laugh that he thinks that would be enough to scare me away from the truth. "That doesn't concern you."
"Doesn't it, though? You have us locked up in the same house. You expect to have me in public and her in private. How does that not concern me?" Laslo emits a low, slow growl that I'm sure would worry others. I'm an Alpha wolf, and my bite is way bigger than his bark. "Is that supposed to scare me?" I sit up on the couch and fix the blankets around me. I look up into his eyes and smirk. "It doesn't. Cory has a bigger growl than that, easily."
Laslo is out of the chair like lightning, and his hand is clasped around my throat. He is huffing and puffing, rage pouring out of his eyes. I smirk though it is getting a bit hard to breathe. "Do it! Just squeeze a bit more and put me out of my misery." I glare at him and breathe deeply, daring him to complete the job. "I'd rather die than to be tied to you. I'd rather die than to have you touch me. I'd rather DIE than to stay here with you......KILL ME!!!!"
I'm breathing heavily now, and tears have left my eyes. Laslo says nothing, and his eyes glaze over. He focuses back on me, and the front door opens. "Sir, we have footage of a drone we saw flying around."
"They found us. It's time to move." I can feel my heartbeat increase. Who sent the drone? I'd imagine it was Cory. If they move us, how will I get back to my mate? Laslo starts to breathe, and his hand gets tighter around my neck. I start to claw at his hand to get him to release me then darkness takes over.
