Summary: You were never one to stand up for yourself. You would do anything to avoid confrontation. That being said, you were an easy target. You were constantly picked on, until Hawk came along.

Warnings: uncomfortable themes, slight fluff and violence

Going to school has always been something I dreaded, especially high school. Since the day I started, I was constantly picked on. Even though I was constantly tormented at school, I never said anything. Whether it was from my fear of confrontation or not knowing what to say, I couldn't tell you. That didn't work out in my favor. I guess my lack of communication made me an easy target for more bullying.

That all stopped when I started dating Hawk. I had known Hawk when he was Eli. When he was just the shy kid who got picked on. We were never really close until we started dating.

Dating him was an absolute dream. Not only did he stick up for me, even though I told him he didn't need to, but he's an absolute sweetheart when it's just the two of us. Unfortunately, right now was not one of those circumstances.

I sat in the library at lunch waiting for Hawk. We usually sat together with his Cobra Kai friends at lunch, but today was just going to be the two of us. I knew he was going to be a little late seeing as his class was on the opposite end of the school.

As I sat at the table playing a game on my phone, I heard someone pull out a chair. Thinking it was Hawk, I immediately looked up, a wide smile taking over my face. That was soon replaced when I saw Kyler standing there. A taunting smirk on his face. His friends stood right behind him, their own smug looks. My smile instantly dropped.

"Hey Y/N", he said with mock enthusiasm, "mind if I sit?"

Before I could reply, not that I would, he sat down, his friends joining him. The rest of his friends continued to stand, but moved until they were behind me. I was surrounded.

Having sensed my discomfort he moved his chair until it was touching mine, his arm wrapped around my shoulder.

"What's wrong?", he asked with fake concern, "I won't hurt you". As he said that his grip tightened.

His eyes tried meeting mine, but I turned my head the opposite direction. He brought the hand that wasn't around my shoulder to my chin forcing me to face him. While I was face to face with him, my eyes stayed trained on the ground. I let out a quiet mumble, hoping he wouldn't hear me, but like usual, luck wasn't on my side.

"What was that?", he asked as he lowered his head, trying to meet my gaze. I refused, keeping my eyes low.

"You're going to have to speak up", he said with a slight chuckle. His friends joined them with their own laughter. They was clearly making fun of me and my shyness. Feeling a sudden burst of confidence, though one wouldn't be able to tell, I spoke a little louder.

"You're hurting me", I said barely above a whisper. He let out a small laugh as his grip on my shoulder and jaw tightened. I'm surprised I was able to say anything with the grip he had on my face.

"Wow", he said sarcastically. He raised his eyebrows in faux disbelief. "Don't need to yell", he added mockingly. His friends laughed once more. My discomfort was growing by the second as I felt their eyes on me along with Kyler's grip.

"Please let go", I said with the same quiet voice. Their laughter stopped as they stared at me in shock.

I finally gained the courage to look up only to find Kyler was already staring at me. "And what are you going to do about it", he stated rather than questioned. He knew that I wasn't going to do anything. I didn't like confrontation. He knew it. Everyone knew it.

Taking my silence as his cue to continue, he said in a menacing tone, "Your boyfriend isn't here to help you now, is he?"

As he said that, he moved his hand from my jaw to caress my cheek. I let out an involuntary shutter. Before I had the chance to say anything, another voice spoke up.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that"

Looking over, I saw Hawk standing there with his fists clenched at his sides. His jaw was tense as he grit his teeth in anger. Kyler and his friends immediately turned at the new voice. I could tell Hawk frightened them as Kyler's grip loosened and his friends slightly backed away.

Walking closer Hawk spoke again, "Now get your hands off my girlfriend."

With that Kyler released his grip and stood up, his friends moving to stand behind him once again. A smug smirk overtook Kyler's face as he walked towards Hawk. His friends look at each other, fear all over their faces. They knew how Hawk could be. Kyler was just stupid enough to challenge it.

"What are you going to do about it?", Kyler asked as he slightly puffed his chest, "Lip", he added. Not saying anything Hawk brought his fist up, connecting it with his jaw. Blood instantly started coming out of Kyler's lip. He brought his hand up to wipe his mouth and upon seeing blood, he swung his own fist.

Hawk easily blocked it while reaching down, hitting him right in the gut. Having got the wind knocked out of him, Kyler hunched over. As he faced the floor, Hawk brought his knee up, hitting him square in the face. A loud crack could be heard throughout the library. "Seep your hands off my girlfriend or you'll have more than a broken nose", Hawk said with venom in his voice. He then pushed Kyler to the floor.

Kyler's friends rushed to his side to help him up as blood gushed from his nose. He pushed them off, obviously embarrassed and angry. He looked at Hawk and said, "This ain't over." He then walked off, followed by his pathetic friends.

I sat there unmoving from the whole interaction. Shock and fear could be see on my face. Shock from what Hawk did and fear from what could've happened if he didn't shown up. Without me realizing, Hawk sat down in the chair that a Kyler once occupied. It wasn't until he grabbed my hand that I snapped out of my daze.

"Are you okay?", he asked. I turned to face him while sending him a small smile.

"Yes", I replied honestly, "thank you for sticking up for me."

He let out a slight chuckle. "You don't need to thank me", he said, "I'll always stick up for you, you know that", as he finished he reached forward, moving a strand of hair out of my face. He left his hand on my cheek and held me face.

"I love you", he said genuinely as he sent me a loving smile.

I smiled back, "I love you too", I replied, "Now, lets get you cleaned up", I added while grabbing the hand that was on my face. We then walked out of the library, permanent smiles on our faces.
