Summary: You and Robby work on your project and soon find that you both have feelings for one another.

Warnings: None

After the final bell rang, I walked outside and to my relief found Robby leaning on the side of the building.

Thank God he didn't ditch me, I thought, that would have been so embarrassing.

As soon as Robby and I made eye contact, he smiled as he made his way over to me. I didn't know what to do so I smiled back, waiting for him to say something.

"Alright", he started with a shrug, "lead the way", he gestured with his arm out. I nodded and began walking. I soon felt his presence beside me and heard him chuckle lightly.

Turning to him I asked, "What's so funny?"

"Nothing", he replied, "you just don't say much. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing." He then looked down almost as if he said something that might offend me.

"I just don't really have much to say", I started, "I honestly just don't want to embarrass myself", I admitted truthfully. It probably wasn't smart of me to admit that, but after this project we most likely weren't going to continue talking anyway.

To my surprise he nodded, "Yeah. Me too", he replied. I looked at him with raised eyebrows, shock and confusion clear on my face. He looked down at me with a light smile, seeming kind of bashful.

"Yeah, I mean", he started while looking down, "I have a bad habit of making a fool of myself in front of pretty girls." I noticed his cheeks turned slightly red as he turned his head away from me. His hair falling in his face, covering his eyes.

Had I heard him right?

Before I could reply I realized we had made it to my house. Deciding to ignore the current conversation, whether for my sake or his, I said, "Well here we are."

He looked up and all traces of bashfulness seemed to have disappeared from his features. Once on the front porch I unlocked the front door, walking into the house.

"My parents are working, so they won't be back until late tonight", I said as we took off our shoes and made our way to the kitchen, "Would you like a snack or something to drink", I asked.

"No, I'm good", Robby said as he took a seat at the table, already pulling out his textbook for the project. I grabbed my laptop and walked over, taking a seat across from him. He looked up from his book and laughed lightly. I looked up at him slightly confused.

"It's going to be kind of hard to work on a project together when you're all the way over there, partner", he said, still smiling. I looked down feeling embarrassed. He definitely knew I was nervous by now.

I slowly got up and made my way over to the seat beside him. I opened my laptop and notebook, trying to distract myself from how close I was to him.

"Alright", I said while looking up at him, "let's get started."

2 Hours Later

After working for what seemed like forever, but was only two hours, we were already over halfway done with our project. All we needed to do was build the actual diorama.

"If I have to look at any more species of sponges, I might just slam my head on the table", Robby said while placing his forehead on the table.

I laughed and said, "Yeah, if I have to list any more species of fish, I might commit arson." I leaned my head back against the chair, feeling a headache coming on. Why did I have to pick the habitat with the most species?

Robby laughed and lifted his head to look over at me. Even with my eyes closed, I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my face. I turned my head and slowly opened my eyes to meet his.

"What?", I asked, "Is there something on my face?"

I immediately felt self-conscious. He was looking at me so intently. I didn't know if he was zoning out or if there was genuinely something on my face.

"You're just really pretty", he said nonchalantly. My eyes widened with shock. It wasn't just the fact that no one has said that, other than my parents, but it was how genuine and serious he sounded.

"Thank you", I said timidly. I didn't really know how to respond. How do you respond when the boy you have a crush on tells you you're pretty?

"Can I tell you something?", he asked. His voice both nervous and serious. I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but nonetheless I nodded my head. He took a deep breath and looked me in the eyes.

"I've had the biggest crush on you for a really long time", he said. My heart immediately stopped and my hands grew clammy. I was waiting for him to say he was joking and make fun of me, but I heard the sincerity in his voice and I knew he meant it.

"Really?", I asked both unsure and hopeful. There was no way this could be true.

"Yeah," he started, "Why would I lie?" It looked as if he was somewhat offended. Noticing the look on his face, I started to elaborate on my question.

"I mean I'm just surprised is all," I started, fiddling with my hands. Noticing my discomfort, he grabbed both my hands making me calm down almost instantly.

"Why would you be surprised?"

"It's just that you've never talked to me let alone really looked at me, so I thought you didn't like me." I finished feeling relieved to have gotten it off my chest.

It was quiet for a moment until Robby spoke up.

"I never really knew what to say. You always seemed way out of my league, not to mention you never talked to me either." He raised an eyebrow teasingly to let me know he wasn't actually upset.

I looked down for the thousandth time feeling embarrassed. One of his hands reached down to lift my chin, my eyes meeting his.

"Touche," I replied while smiling at him. He immediately smiled back.

"Can I kiss you?", he asked. I nodded, not saying anything.

He began to lean forward and so did I. Before I could fully register what was happening, our lips met. The kiss was slow and passionate, but also urgent and needy. It was as if we were trying to make up for lost time. Our teen angst got the better of us, not allowing us to confess our feelings sooner.

Before long, we separated. Both with huge grins painted on our faces.

Robby opened his mouth to say something, but I reached a finger up to his lips, silencing him.

"Just in case it wasn't clear, I like you too".
