Mart cannot sleep, actually.
He is lying down beside Audre who is already asleep.
He is just gazing at her right now. He wants to hold her close to him, but his feelings of jealousy forbid him.
Mart –
"Hmp..."
Kaya ko ding matulog kahit hindi ka kayakap. Kagaya ng ginagawa mo sa akin ngayon . . . huhuhu."
"Puppy love. (grunts) Bagay kayo."
"☹"
"No.. ako ang para sa'yo ehh, hindi yung asungot na yon. Mas gwapo ako dun. Gumwapo lang yun dahil may lahi."
Mart cannot sleep still. He tossed and turned but cannot get the right comfort. He finally gives in. He moves closer to Audre, scoops the girl in his arms gently, and feels her close to him. He smells her breathing and her scent. He felt a relief and releases a sigh. This is giving him calmness right now.
"You beautiful one, you win. Wala man lang akong good night kiss kanina bago ka matulog." He releases a sigh.
"Hindi kita matitiis talaga. Kahit kailan. Sana mapansin mo yun. Mahal na mahal kita. Kahit nagseselos ako, hindi ko matiis na hindi kita hawakan at yakapin ngayon."
"I love you, beautiful one." Mart kisses the girl gently in her lips.
Audre moves, asleep still, she puts her arms around Mart and felt the comfort and body heat. Audre weakly says "Hmm, Mart." Mart hears that. And now, he is overjoyed that Audre is saying his name in her sleep.
Finally, his heart doesn't feel any trouble now, he induced sleep.
The next morning, Audre wakes to find herself in the arms of Mart. She smiles and thinks how she got there, in his arms. Mart awakens too, seeing Audre is smiling at him as they are embraced.
Mart pulls his arms away from her, feeling so embarrassed and awkward, but managed to initially greet, "Good morning."
Audre: "Good morning. How are you feeling today?" (still smiling)
Mart: "Um, I feel fine."
Audre: "You slept well?"
Mart: "Hmm, not really. Late na ako nakatulog, actually."
– kung hindi ko pa sya niyakap, hindi pa ako makakatulog, huhu
Mart and Audre both sit down to have a talk.
Audre: "Why?"
Mart: "It's nothing. Hindi lang talaga ako nakatulog agad kagabi, maybe I was just thinking deep."
Audre: "That's strange na hindi ka kagad nakatulog. You are not usually like this."
Mart cannot take it anymore,
"I just thought of yesterday; that you were given flowers. Tss."
Audre: "Ah. And then?"
Mart: "And so. . nothing. As if I have any right to. ."
Audre: "To what?"
Mart: ". . .to get jealous."
Audre: (laughs) "You are jealous?"
Mart looks away. He is obviously unhappy with this conversation.
"Oo, nagseselos ako. Ano naman ang laban ko sa kanya? He seems great, he knows you long before I have met you. Your family knows him well. He is from here, from your province. Possibly, his family knows your family. It would be easy for them when you two finally . . ."
