" Family of Dru Brown" the nurse said approaching us in the waiting room.
I jumped up and approached the nurse.
" And who are you to the pati-" she asked me
" I'm his girlfriend. How is he?" I interrupted her and said
" I'm sorry hun but I'll need an actual family member to discredit this information to."
" DO YOU SEE ANY MOTHERFUCKING FAMILY HERE?! We're his family ma'am! Now tell me how my boyfriend is doing!?" I yelled
Everyone was staring at me and started to whisper. I didn't care about that or anyone right now at this moment. I wanted to know if Dru was okay.
" I'm sorry ma'am but I can't-"
" Hi, I'm Andrea Brown. I'm here to see my son Dru Brown." a woman interrupted and said
Me and Dru's mom made eye contact. She was dressed professionally, brownskinned with a pixie cut, about 5"7 and was beautiful. Her and the nurse stepped to the side which made me even more nervous. I sat in the waiting room chair shaking, my nerves were so bad. My eyes were puffy, I felt nauseous, I was starving and was starting to get sleepy . I'm just irritated all around.
" Can I speak to you for a second?" Andrea asked me.
I got out of the chair and we walked through the double doors. She observed me as we stood in a empty hallway by ourselves.
" You are just as beautiful as Dru described you." she said smiling
" Thank you" I said forcing a smile
I honestly wasn't trying to hear none of that right now. Ma'am just please tell me how Dru is. She began to catch my drift and continued talking
" The nurse said that Dru is fine. The bullet was removed in surgery and everything was going to be okay. He just needs some rest and physical therapy. She said we can go in and see him now if we like."
When she said that I was relieved. I sighed letting everything out. I was about to hug Andrea when I started to feel myself about to throw up. I ran over to the trash can near us and threw up everything I could. Andrea held my hair as I threw up in the trash.
" Pregnant?" she asked me handing me a paper towel
" No ma'am. It's just everything that went on today has been alot for me that's all." I said wiping my mouth
She nodded her head and we walked towards Dru's hospital room. Jaliyah and Kolby met us there.
" Miss Andrea this is my twin brother Kolby and my bestfriend Jaliyah" I said introducing everyone
" I've met Kolby already but it's nice to me you Jaliyah" she said hugging Jaliyah
We sat and waited for Dru to wake up. He had a cast on his leg and I spotted a wheelchair and some crutches by his bedside. I laid in the bed next to him waiting for him to wake up. Eventually I fell asleep laying on his shoulder in the hospital bed.
The next morning...
I felt kisses being placed on my forehead and I opened my eyes and Dru was awake. I hugged him tightly and thanked God. I was so grateful and blessed that I didn't lose him.
" How are you feeling?" I asked him looking deeply into his eyes
" I'm okay ma. My leg just in pain a bit." he softly said
It was just me and him in the room. Everyone else went home last night and got some rest and decided to come back this morning.
" I met your mom. She's so beautiful and nice." I told Dru
" My mom was here?"
" Yeah, she left last night tho. She said she would be back this morning."
He stared off into the hospital room window and became silent. I knew there was something wrong. We laid down in the bed a bit longer until a nurse came in to check his womb. She changed the wrapping and cleaned it and properly fixed the boot back on. Moments later Andrea entered the room. When Dru noticed her his body started to tense up, I knew this wouldn't be good.
" Hi son. How are you feeling?" she said holding his hand
" I'm good" Dru said releasing his hand from hers
Andrea forced a smile and sat next to me in one of the chairs in the room. We sat in silence for a while and I called Jaliyah to come and get me so I could shower. About 10 minutes later, Jaliyah texted me and said she was outside and I told Dru and left. I wanted him and his mom to hsve some alone time to themselves. It was quite obvious that there were some personal problems that they couldn't discuss in front of me. Once I made it home, I went straight to the shower. I washed off the soap from my body and stepped out of the shower. I started to lotion my body when I noticed something different about my body. My stomach had a small pudge to it. I began thinking about what Andrea said and when Dru took my virginity and began to panic.
" JALIYAHHH!!?" I yelled down the hallway.
Jaliyah came to the bathroom and I told her to cone in so I could close the door. Kolby's room was across the door and I didn't want him to hear anything I was about to say.
" What's wrong Ky?" Jaliyah asked me looking concerned.
" I think I'm pregnant Jay" I said to her in a serious tone
She began to laugh at me and I looked at her stupid.
" What's funny?" I said aggressively
" Because you can be dramatic Ky. Why do you think that?"
" I noticed I had a bump when I got out the shower just now. I threw up in front of Andrea last night and she threw out the P word and now I'm sitting here thinking about the first time me and Dru had sex and we didn't use protection."
" Ky the only way we'll know for sure is if you take a test. We can go to CVS or Walgreens if you want so we can get one."
I stood there and thought about it. Jaliyah's right I can be over dramatic at times. Maybe I was just trippin and being over dramatic as usual.
" Nevermind I'm just over reacting. Probably just a food belly"
We both laughed and I went to my room to take a nap before going back to the hospital to see Dru.
Dru Brown
" Dru, your wombs and progress is great! I think we can release you to go home tomorrow. I've contacted a physical therapist that you can see for the next few weeks and you should be back and ready to play in about two or three weeks depending on your leg mobility." my doctor told me
" Thank You Dr.Daniels, I appreciate everything you've done for me"
" No problem son. Do y'all have any questions for me to answer?"
" Um yes actually I do. Now is there anything I would have to do home improvement wise for him to get around?" my mom asked
I'm not staying with her. I don't even want her here now. I haven't seen my mom since summer. With her being a lawyer and my dedicated to football, I didn't get to see her much. I also had a 16 year old sister named Dream who practically raises herself. I still checked on her while staying with Ky and them, but I didn't like the fact that she had to go through this at the young age that she is. My dad was in jail for first degree murder. He's been in there since Dream was born and I haven't spoken to him or seen him since then.
" I'm staying at Kyah's ma."
" No the hell you ain't Dru" she said aggressively
" I'll let you guys talk. I'll be back in a few Dru to check up on you" Dr. Daniels said
He walked out the room, and Kyah walked in. I didn't want to hear anything that me and my mom had to discuss so I asked her to step out for a sec.
" No baby, you can stay. Seems like I'm not wanted here anyway."
My mom got up and left from out of the room.
" What was that about?" Ky asked me
" Nothing bae, come lay down and take a nap with me"
