I was at school sitting down in my desk listening to 90s R&B filling out this study guide, when I started to feel a mild cramp at the bottom of my stomach. I got scared and immediately touched my stomach to feel my baby squirming and wiggling up a storm. I smiled and ignored the pain and finished doing my schoolwork. These pains have been off and on since last night, maybe I should go to the doctor once I leave school. The second to last bell rung meaning it was time for seniors to leave and go home. I really haven't been at school lately since I'm very far a long in my pregnancy. The days that I don't come, I attend my classes online at home via Zoom and Moodle. I have a Spellman campus tour scheduled when my 6 weeks are up and orientation is July 31st. Today, is March 25th meaning one week until baby boy arrives!! OMG I can't wait until this is over and I get to meet my baby man. I've been in total mommy mode this whole month preparing for his arrival. I was walking out my Biology classroom when I seen Jaliyah waiting for me outside the door. I started to feel those same cramps again but this time they were a tad bit worse. I stopped in the middle of the hallway and held my stomach until the pain went away.
" Ky, you okay?" Jaliyah asked me and shook my head yes and we continued walking towards the entrance.
We made it to the parking lot and headed straight towards my car. I hated driving pregnant, this shit was absolutely the hardest thing to do especially during your late second trimester and third trimester so I asked Jaliyah to drive while I be a passenger seat princess in my own car. As we got closer to the car, I could see Dru and his homeboys sitting on their cars smoking weed and listening to music loud as fuck. I pretended to not notice him and I got in my car. I couldn't believe the person he's becoming but oh well fuck him. Jaliyah crunk up the car and we pulled out of the school to go home. On the way home, I felt another cramp which was 3x worse than the one before. I laid the seat all the way back and just rubbed my stomach thinking it would help reduce the pain a bit.
" What's wrong Ky? You either rub your belly when something's bothering you or when my godbaby acting a fool in there. Or is it Dru? I seen you looking at him outside in the parking lot."
" Girl ain't nobody stunting on no Dru, fuck him. I just been having these- Ooooo crampss" I said getting yet another pain in my stomach.
" Ky do you think you're in labor and just didn't think about it because you're trying to thug it out?"
A flow of water came from below, meaning my water officially broke. I began to moan and groan as the pain began to grow stronger and stronger. Last week, I had a scare at Lando's and he rushed me to the hospital but they were only Braxton Hicks and these cramps were way worse than those so I knew I was in labor. I sat in the passenger seat laid back breathing in and out slowly. Jaliyah told everyone that I was in labor and to meet us at the hospital. She put on her emergency lights and started speeding on the interstate. It was 12:35pm meaning we were about to be stuck in lunch traffic. I started to get frustrated and started yelling and cussing because this pain and being stuck in traffic was no joke right now. Jaliyah called 911 to see if an ambulance could come and get me and bring me to the hospital. 45 minutes later, an ambulance arrived and took me to the hospital. Once we arrived at the hospital, my heart started racing and the pain just wouldn't stop. At this point I was crying and yelling wanting to get this baby the hell out. The pain felt like a big metal boulder hitting my stomach repeatedly. The paramedics rolled me up to the Labor & Delivery floor and my doctor immediately came and put me in a room.
" Hello Kyah, how are you today?" she asked as she examined down there to see where the baby's head was.
" God please get this baby out of me!!" I yelled tossing and turning in the hospital bed.
" It's going to be okay Miss Richardson. You are currently 7cm dilated meaning you've been in labor for about 12 hours now. Have you been having any cramps yesterday or today and maybe brushed them off trying to be strong?"
