Five years ago

Debbie woke up in her apartment, she slept well, now the sun was entering the room, installing a calm light. Did not know why but Debbie had a smile on her face, she still could feel the kisses of her lover on her neck, belly and breast. She turned to face Lou but was soon catch by the reality of the event. She was alone in the bed and the place where Lou was supposed to be, was cold and empty. Debbie sat on her bed and suddenly a headache came hitting her brain and she felt her blood was leaving her body. Nothing around, the baggage of Lou weren't there anymore. She was alone in this room.... All alone.

Her breath started accelerating as she realized what was happening. Her phone was on her night stand, which was strange, but she didn't pay attention to it. It was 12am passed, and she had a message from Lou that's all mattered. She opened it with a trembling hand before reading.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't stay, please take care of yourself Debbie."

and another one that said

"This will no longer be my number when you'll see this, so don't try to reach me."

The brunette started shaking her head, "no" this could not be happening. She started to panic, couldn't breathe properly, she felt like her heart was burning but in a painful way, her hand went to grab her own breast to find her heart to make sure she wasn't dying, it was so painful.

Breathing became harder and harder and felt like she had a small iron circle around her head.

She had to drink something.

Shaking, she stood up, but failed and reach painfully the floor. She couldn't see clear, everything around her was trembling. She tried to stand up again, but it was difficult, so she helped with the wall, started to walk her hand in front of her to make sure she didn't knock herself on something.

Suddenly, she felt a shrill pain underneath her foot. A cut, from the glass she had throw against the wall earlier. The pain of her foot, her heart, her head, combined with the fact that she couldn't breathe properly was too much, and she just let herself down on the floor before starting crying.

"What did I do ?" It didn't take long for her tears to cover all her face, made it even harder to breath.

She was sobbing and screaming, hands on her face.

Lou was gone.

She left.

She left Debbie alone.

She didn't love her anymore.

Debbie would never see her again.

And as those thoughts were running all over her head she started crying louder and louder.

Lou is gone....

Debbie was now screaming of pain, all her body was hurting her, her foot, her head but the most painful was her heart.

An hour later Debbie was still on the floor, almost bleeding to death from her foot, but she couldn't care less, the sobbing was lower but still there. And she was whispering " what have I done ? " she said this sentence so many times in the last hour that it didn't mean anything anymore. She almost wasn't able to breathe anymore, so she decided to call Tammy.

After two missed call, Tammy answered:

"Sorry Deb, I just saw you tried to call me, what's up ?"

A little silence came in the line.

"Tam, I can't.... I can't breathe"

And the crying came back. Tammy could hear the pain in Debbie's voice which broke her heart and she already knew what happened without Debbie saying anything.
