Debbie paced back and forth in the room, her frustration evident on her face. Tammy watched her with concern.

"I can't believe you told Lou about the hospital. That was something I wanted to keep in the past Tammy"

Tammy sighed, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to betray your trust. I thought Lou should know, especially after everything that happened between you two."

Debbie stopped her pacing and turned to face Tammy

"You had no right, Tammy. That was my choice to share or not."

"I know, Debbie. I messed up, and I'm truly sorry."

Debbie crossed her arms.

"You can't just play the role of the protector and make decisions for me, Tammy. That incident was a part of my past, and I was choosing how and when to address it. You should have respected that."

" I crossed a line, and I can't take back what I did. But I genuinely thought I was doing the right thing."

"Plus Lou totally freaked out. You hurt her by telling her this story. Why do you think I didn't tell her. I'm not ashamed. I just knew she would think it was her fault."

"Well, it was kind of her fault, Debbie." Whispered Tammy.

Debbie's eyes narrowed as she heard Tammy's words, her protective instincts kicking in. "Tam, it wasn't Lou's fault. It's unfair to blame her."

Tammy crossed her arms, a defiant expression on her face. "She left, Debbie. She walked away without any explanation, and it pushed you to that point. She played a part in it."

Debbie took a step closer to Tammy.

" I know I hurt you and scared the crap out of you back then, and I know you're looking for someone to blame. But this isn't about pointing fingers. Lou made a choice... a bad one, but it doesn't make her responsible for what happened."

Tammy looked away. "I just... I can't wrap my head around it, Debbie. Seeing you like that, it broke something inside me. I wanted her to be hurt as much as she hurt you."

Debbie reached out and placed a hand on Tammy's shoulder, her voice filled with empathy. "I know. But blaming Lou won't make what happened go away. You need to find a way to heal and move forward like I did."

Tammy sighed again. " It's just... hard to let go."

"Lou blames herself for everything, Tam. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, and I didn't want her to blame herself for something that wasn't her fault. I wanted to protect her from that burden."

" I shouldn't have interfered."

" I know you say Lou is bad for me. But deep down, you know she's not."

"Deb, I'm just worried about you. I've seen you hurt before, and I don't want to see you go through that again."

"But I need you to trust me and trust my judgment. Okay ?"

Tammy looked down. "I do trust you. And I want you to be happy. I'm just scared of seeing you get hurt again. Can you at least promise me that you'll be careful?"

Debbie placed a hand on Tammy's arm, offering reassurance. "I can't promise she'll never hurt me again. But... She makes me so fucking happy and alive. And I guess it's worth all the pain."

" You are so stubborn."

"That I am."

"So what ?" asked Tammy. "Are you in love with her ?"

Debbie's gaze softened as she looked at Tammy, a genuine smile gracing her lips. "Well, that is not your business."

Tammy smiled warmly, placing a hand on Debbie's shoulder. "Just be careful, okay."
