All week, Debbie didn't get any news from Lou. No text, no call. Nothing
Debbie's heart was heavy with worry and confusion as the days passed by without any word from Lou. Each passing moment felt like an eternity, and the absence of communication left her feeling anxious. Questions swirled in her mind, wondering what could be keeping Lou away and why she hadn't reached out. Insecurities started to creep in, and doubts began to cloud Debbie's thoughts. Was something wrong? Had she done something to push Lou away? The silence was deafening, and it seemed to magnify her fears and uncertainties.
As the week went on, She longed for clarity, for the reassurance that Lou still cared. Through the days Debbie's initial worry had now transformed into anger. As the anger burned within her, Debbie's mind raced with various scenarios and possible explanations for Lou's silence. Was she purposely avoiding her? Did she no longer care? The brunette was hurt...Deeply hurt.
Sitting alone in her office, the lunch hour was ticking away with each passing minute. The atmosphere matched Debbie's somber mood as she picked at her lunch, her appetite dampened by the weight of her thoughts.
As she took a bite, the taste seemed bland and unappealing, mirroring her current state of mind.
Debbie's thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock on the door of her office. Startled, she looked up, her eyes widening in surprise. Wondering who could be seeking her during this solitary lunchtime, she called out, "Come in."
The door creaked open, revealing Lou with a bouquet of flowers in her hands.
Debbie's heart skipped a beat as she laid eyes on the blonde. Mixed emotions surged through her: relief, joy, confusion, and, of course, anger. She hadn't expected Lou to show up like this, especially after the days of silence.
Lou stepped into the office, her gaze locked with Debbie's. "You are so fucked, Lou !" whispered the brunette.
Debbie's words cut through the air, laden with anger and frustration. Lou's face fell, her eyes widening in surprise. She took a step back. "I messed up. I'm sorry..."
But before Lou could finish her sentence, Debbie stood up from her seat, her eyes blazing with intensity. "No, don't even try to explain," she interjected sharply. "You disappeared for a week, without a single word."
She reached out a hand, attempting to bridge the distance between them. "Here are flowers for you."
Debbie crossed her arms, her stance firm. "Yeah, I see. What do you want me to do with them?"
"You can put them in your office," said Lou.
Debbie's gaze softened slightly as she looked at the flowers in Lou's hands. Reluctantly, she took them from her, placing them on the desk beside her. "Fine, I'll put them in my office. Now cut me your bullshit; what is your explanation?"
Lou's shoulders slumped, realizing that her attempts at reconciliation were not going as smoothly as she had hoped. She took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before speaking. "I'm sorry, I should have called you like I said I would, but I had work and I was tired."
Debbie crossed her arms, her expression still guarded. "It takes a minute to send a text. Really, what's wrong with you ?"
Lou's voice quivered slightly as she replied, "Nothing. I told you I'm sorry."
"Sorry isn't enough, Lou. So what ? You fuck me for a week, you get what you want, and you disappear ?
Lou's face contorted in frustration. "That's not fair, Debbie. Because it's not true, and you know that."
Debbie's eyes narrowed, and her tone filled with disbelief. "That's not fair ? Ghosting me is not fair."
Lou's voice wavered, regret evident in her eyes. "Come on, Deb. Don't be like that."
