Flashback -Four years ago- One year anniversary

Debbie sat nervously at the small table she had set up for their one-year anniversary. Candles flickered softly, casting a warm glow over the room, and soft music played in the background. She had prepared a special meal, one of Lou's favorites, and had been waiting for her to arrive.

But as the minutes turned into an hour, her excitement started to wave, replaced by a growing sense of worry.

Where was Lou?

Did she had forgotten about their anniversary ?

Maybe she didn't care as much as Debbie did...

This last months it was always work with Lou. And even thouth Debbie new it was a part of the deal she was annoyed by it. Lou was always working late, sometimes all night. She was always called for whatever reasons and this past month Debbie felt like being a roomate with Lou again. But she also knew she couldn't ask Lou to change her job.

As she sat alone in the living room, she couldn't help but wonder if it really was time to take their relationship to the next level.

She was thinking of maybe getting married and start a family with the love of her life. But Lou was always away and it felt like their wasn't a time to talk about those important things.

Debbie didn't want to come across as pushing or demanding, but she also didn't want to keep her feelings bottled up. She needed to find the right moment to talk to Lou about their future.

Just as Debbie was about to give up hope, the sound of the door opening caught her attention. She looked up, her heart pounding, and saw Lou standing entering their home, looking like she was trying to be quiet.

Debbie stood there, her arms crossed tightly across her chest, her eyes filled with frustration.

"Where have you been? I've been waiting for you."

"Work ran late, Deb. You know how it gets sometimes."

"It's always work, isn't it? You're never here ." The brunette murmured.

"I have responsibilities, Deb. I can't just drop everything whenever you want me to."

"I bet you don't even know what day it is."

"What do you mean? Of course, I know what day it is. It's... um..."

"It's our anniversary, Lou. A year together, and you forgot."

"Oh.. I can't believe I forgot our anniversary..."

"I thought our love meant something to you."

"Debbie, believe me when I say that our love does mean everything to me. I've just been so consumed by work and stress that I lost track of time."

"Actions speak louder than words, Lou. And right now, your actions are telling me that I'm not a priority in your life."

"I can't believe you're accusing me of not caring. I have been working my ass off to provide for us, and you're making it seem like I don't prioritize our relationship. I just forgot I'm sorry."

"It's not just about the anniversary, Lou. It's about feeling neglected. I need your time, your attention, and your love."

"I can't give you what you want if you don't communicate with me. How am I supposed to know what you need if you don't tell me ? I'm not a mind reader."

"I shouldn't have to spell it out for you, Lou. It's about being present, and making an effort to connect with me. It's about showing me that I matter to you."
