  Sorren left and my heart beat rapidly in my chest. Should I try to leave now? While I had the chance? My anxiety rose as I looked around nervously. Did he have someone else watching the house? Trying to leave when he anticipated it was stupid right? I should wait for another opportunity when Sorren is gone for the day and I can get a head start on him.
  But what if that time is months away? I huffed angry at the internal battle I was having with myself. I wanted to leave so bad, but I was afraid. What if he caught me? What would happen to me? The politeness that he showed me now would be most certainly gone. What if he hurt me afterwards? I needed to plan my escape better I had to know where I wanted to go.
  A sudden knock at the door startled me until I heard a familiar voice "Calla! It's Jaden, Let in!" I made it over to the door and stood on my tip toes to see out of the peep hole confirming it was indeed Jaden before I opened the door. "Hey Calla! Sorren sent me over to make sure you're okay." I looked at him unimpressed that was not the reason "Okay, to make sure you don't leave. Goddamn that glare is frightening!" Jaden said walking in past me.
  I was glad that I did not try to escape in the moment, I was right it was too predictable. "Sorren told me that there is a new shifter and he has to be there during their change?" Jaden nodded "Yeah shifting for the first time is especially painful. It's a major change for the body which in time becomes easier but the first time it can be quiet terrifying. Alpha's have a pull over all in their pack so, using a tone we wolves call 'the alpha tone' an Alpha can basically command a wolf to do almost anything and they will comply."I was surprised at that information. "So, Sorren is currently calming down the new wolf and helping them through the confusion so they do not hurt themselves or others."
"Wow I didn't realize that Alphas could do that." I said moving to sit on the couch as Jaden sat down. "Yeah I'm assuming they don't teach that in your schools." I shook my head "In fact, do you have any questions about wolves? I could answer them help give you a one up on Sorren. I assume he hasn't offered to clarify anything that stupid oaf." I smiled a small smile perhaps the first I'd displayed since arriving here.
"Sorren seems to have this weird obsession with feeding me. What's that about?" Jaden laughed at my choice of wording. "I assume it's a wolf thing but it's just like he's trying to fatten me up or something." Jaden shook his head "It is expected for a wolf to provide for their mates needs. I am unsure how deeply this goes in a human and wolf bond, but the dominant of the relationship can often feel the submissive emotions." I frowned as he said that "Well I think I feel some of Sorren's emotions he seems so bipolar. Does that make me the dominant?" Jaden laughed "No Calla I don't think so. Sorren is a stubborn wolf, an Alpha. I'm sorry to say but I think he is the dominant." I rolled my eyes "Typical." I huffed.
"Sorren can most likely feel how you are feeling and sense certain things that you may need for example if you are cold, hungry, or tired. His wolf then pushes him to act according to those indications. At first it's like an obsession. When I first met my mate Azalea I would obsess over every little feeling through the bond. She'd get so pissed at the amount of times I'd ask her if she was okay." Jaden shook his head in thought. "Those feelings intensify after the submissive is marked. Do you know what that is?"
  I nodded a bit unsure "It's when a dominant bites the submissive right?"  Jaden nodded "In plain terms yes. It's usually done after the two have slept together. The dominant will pick a spot, usually the left side of the neck as the pulse point since that is close to the heart. This mark let's others know that the submissive is taken, it's a claim almost that she is protected and loved and always will be." I swallowed at the explanation "So that will happen to me?" Jaden was still for a few moments studying me.
  "I am not telling you this to scare you, I only mean to let you know why wolves, why Sorren acts the way he does towards you. I assume he is short tempered and hyperaware to how you are feeling." I nodded "He is used to ruling every aspect of his life. He became Alpha very young and has been so for more than a century." I huffed at that. "I think it's good you are stubborn. You will give him a run for his money." I decided in that moment I liked Jaden. He seemed to be the only one acknowledging that Sorren is an absolute asshole. "Alright I'm going to sleep before he gets back so I don't have to talk to him. It was good to talk to you." Jaden smiled.
"It was good to talk to you too Calla."
