I shut the door harshly and found Azalea leaning against the wall arms crossed. "Sorren," she sighed. "Go make her food." I growled. Right now I was volatile, I needed to get away. I kept walking past my friend but she followed. "You are both just upset Sorren," I scoffed "She has been upset from the start, I didn't stand a chance." I shook my head in frustration. "When Jaden talked to her, she seemed curious, just answer her questions so she can understand-" I cut Azalea off by cornering her against the wall at the top of the stairs my hands placed either side of her head. "She doesn't want me and I don't want her."
"You're lying to yourself, it's only going to hurt you both in the end." She said resolutely. "She's already made sure to hurt me." Azalea looked at me with what could be pity. "I'm sorry. I can talk with her, try to explain things." She bargained "No." I shook my head pushing away from her. "Make sure she eats." I made my way down the stairs and headed towards the door.
The night air welcomed me and helped to cool down some of my anger. I was going to shift and let my wolf run free, however I was scared at what I would do. Shifting would give my wolf full control and he was raging mad, as I was, however I acted with more rationality. Knowing my wolf and the pain in my chest, he would crawl up in bed with her and make things even worse. I decided to do something I hadn't done since I was in my twenties, drink with the goal of getting drunk.
The drive to the bar was quick and I was soon nursing my third glass of whiskey. Lycan alcohol was much more concentrated, but even three glasses in, I'd need much more to be as numb as I wanted to be. The bar was busy, and although there were whispers when I walked in no one had approached me, most likely due to the angry expression on my face. A few more glasses in and I was finally making some progress. That was when I heard a voice behind me "Hello Alpha," I felt a light touch on my shoulder and turned to see a beautiful woman take a seat beside me. "I haven't seen you around here in a long time."
"Hello Charlotte." I hadn't seen her in quite a while either. When we were younger, we'd regularly spend time together until she'd found her mate. He'd since passed away, and I'd heard she really struggled. Although the pain was unbearable i'm sure, she was the submissive in the bond and so more likely to survive in the event of her mates death. That would be the same for Calla too, although I had no plans of going anywhere. "Are you looking for company?" She asked. I paused for a moment, was I? I waved at the bartender "Another whiskey, and a drink for the lady." I said. Charlotte smiled "A martini please."
"So, what has you drinking this heavy?" Charlotte asked "Can't a man just drink?" I asked sarcastically. The bartender brought over our drinks and I nodded in thanks. "Sure, but you haven't drank like this in about 80 years." I scoffed "You spend that much time in the bar? You here everynight?" Charlotte got a kick out of that "You're the Alpha, people talk." I grumbled as she said that "Well if you don't want to talk about what's making you drink, what about what's making me drink?" I looked at her out of the corner of my eye and found a familiar mischievous smirk.
When she'd found her mate, it was admittedly upsetting. I'd found I missed her company, she knew how to make me forget the responsibility of being the Alpha, perhaps she is exactly what I needed, what the pack needed. The moon goddess worked in mysterious ways, perhaps Calla was just put in my path to push me back to Charlotte? Damn the moon goddess, she'd put so much adversity within my life, she could fall from the sky.
"What is making you drink?" I asked playing into her ploy. "You remember my sister Kate?" I nodded "Well, she just got this new job..." I listened to her mindless rambling and found the story of her family drama a comfort. It was nice to see someone with a healthy dynamic describing petty arguments of what baked good to bring to an event instead of arguing over exile and attempted murder.
Another glass of whiskey and I found myself leaning in to kiss Charlotte. I ignored the nagging pain as I did so and instead focused on the woman I was kissing. Charlotte was beautiful, with dark black hair and dark brown eyes. Her skin was tan and her features sharp. A button nose between two full eye brows was currently up against my own as her soft lips melded with mine.
After a few moments we both pulled away. "Do you want to get out of here?" Charlotte asked. I placed a hundred on the bar and stood with Charlotte on my arm. "You remember how to get to my place Alpha?" She suddenly pulled away from me "Or do you need to follow my trail?" She took off running and I followed a predatory smirk on my face.
