The terminal building of Udaipur's airport was jam-packed with people moving here and there with their luggage trailing behind them. Some running to catch their flights, some others lounging on the chairs because their flight was delayed or cancelled but most of the people were the passengers from the flight that just landed from Delhi. Akshara Goenka was one of them. Clad in a pair of blue skinny jeans and a pink maxi top with golden strips, a Starbuck's coffee goblet in her hands, she retrieved her luggage from the bagage carousel and exited the Terminal.

Her eyes soon caught her name written in bold, capital letters on a name board and a bright smile stretched up on her face as she saw the person holding it. Abandoning her luggage on spot and laughing to herself, she ran to jump in the person's arms, taking him completely by surprise as he stumbled back with the force of the hug but managed to regain his balance at the last minute. Akshara gave no care of a possible fall as she knew it's impossible with him holding her, her arms tightened around his neck when his arms engulfed her in a bear hug, lifting her off the ground. She laughed in delight as he started twirling her, his beautiful laugh echoing with hers.

- "Abhi!" His name left her mouth in a delighted tone as he slowed down, placing her gently back on the ground but not leaving her completely as he smiled down at her.

- "Gharelu Doctor." He whispered as he placed a hair strand behind her ear, adoring her with his eyes.

- "Meethi Dhana." She laughed again as she called him by her favorite nickname that was solely reserved and allowed for her to call. She held his face in her hands, heart beating as tears started prickling her eyes.
"I missed you so damn much."

His hands wiped the corner of her eyes automatically as he shook his head at her, reprimanding her wordlessly. "You've no idea of how much I missed you!"

Though she enjoyed hearing that from her most favorite person, she bit back a smile and crossed her arms against her chest. "Serves you right for leaving me for three years. And that too, for U.S."

- "Oye! Not fair, I left you for one year, you were the one who left me for two years when I came back, without a proper goodbye." Abhimanyu Birla, accused leaving her mouth hanging open at his nerve.

- "Hoye! I asked you to come back for holidays before leaving but you said you couldn't!" She replied hotly as she pointed her finger at him.

- "Maybe because I was completing my MD in cardiology in U.S and couldn't leave?" He fired back rolling his eyes at her.

- "Yeah, well I'm more important than your MD." She pouted. He was about to say something but his words died in his throat as he cupped her face with a distressed expression.

- "Of course you're more important." He whispered softly. "You know I beat myself up about it, after." He whined.
Her pout disappeared as she held his hands to her face and shook her head to brush away his guilt. Of course she knew that.

Abhimanyu Birla, was her first friend, her childhood bestie, her partner in crime, her secret—or not so secret—crush. In short, he was her everything since the fateful day she met him when her family moved to Udaipur. Today, years later, grown up into young adults, they were still as inseparable as they were kids. In fact their bond only strengthened with the recent years' distance that was unavoidable due to their studies. They proved to everyone that distance can't drift them apart, it'd the opposite effect on them, actually.
