Under the twinkling lights of the hut, surrounded by the walls that proudly bore their story, stood Abhimanyu and Akshara, staring at each other with millions of powerful feelings exploding within their beings. Years of unspoken, ardent love was burning fervently in them as they felt their souls being captured in the eye lock they shared.Abhimanyu was the first one to break their trance as he scolded himself mentally and reminded himself of the reason why he did all this in the first place. The confession. He's to confess his endless love for his best friend.
The latter took a step forward, followed by an another until he stood just a feet away from the frozen girl, who seemed to have stopped breathing as well which made him worry."Akshu?" He called gently and when she didn't answer, he snaked an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, snapping her out of her reverie.
Akshara's breath hitched as she suddenly felt pulled against his body, and she glanced up at the fire in his eyes, the mere sight piercing her soul.
"Breathe. You need to breathe." His voice was low, soft but it dipped an octave lower, lips tugging up in the tiniest smirk, "I can think of many other ways of taking your breath, if that's what you want." Her cheeks quickly warmed up with her heart ramming mercilessly against her ribcage as she turned her gaze away, shyly.Abhi fought back his grin at the cute sight of his Akshara blushing for him and stepped back letting her go. He was nervous. She could see it on his face. And so she blinked once, giving him a reassuring smile to calm his nerves. He returned her smile but his heart raced. 'Comm'o Abhi, it's your Akshu, your baby girl who knows the most embarrassing stuffs about you.' Once he was down with his mental pep talk, he took a deep breath, words surprisingly flowing out of his mouth naturally.
"Akshara Goenka. I met you eighteen years ago, in a game of hide and seek, in this old hut..." Her eyes glittered with emotion and his own welled up as he took her hand in his, lips curling up in a slow smile, "You were hiding behind a stool, right there at the corner when I first laid my eyes on you." She chuckled through her tears and her laugh was contagious.
"I never thought you'll become such an important part of my life that day. But you were my first real friend. My best friend who accepted me just I was. Who never expected me to be anyone else. Who ever saw the real Abhi." His voice trembled but he managed to not crack as he handed her the orange tulip which represented friendship and appreciation. She took it wordlessly and admired the flower, fully understanding it's meaning before coming back to his eyes, blinking back her own tears.
"You're a literal energy bomb!" He laughed making her laugh with him. "You turned my boring childhood into the craziest period of my life by your nautankis and unbelievable stunts." He twirled her smoothly, "But I happen to love your crazy stunts and your nautanki self a bit too much." He winked, "Here you go, my Little Sunshine." He gave her the yellow tulip, which represented happiness and hope.
Akshu smiled brightly, her excitement was increasing the more he talked. "I would be lying if I say I saw you only as a friend when we were teenagers. Especially when you were glowing in that yellow saree on my graduation day." Abhimanyu confessed, sincerely.
Her smile turned shy and she blushed, averting her gaze to the ground but he forced her eyes up again, a thumb holding her jaw up. She inhaled sharply at the intensity of his feelings shining in his chocolate brown orbs. "You wore it for me."
He knew. She never told him anything about it but he knew. Right who was she kidding, Abhi never needed any words to understand her.
