They tried to draw back another arrow as blood dripped from their head and over their left eye. Only when they tried to release the string their shoulder was struck by an ice crystal. Luckily they could dodge before it priced their shoulder. "Traveler get up" paimon flew over to them and tried to protect them from the abyss mage. "You overdid it. Paimon told you to not take on so many commissions." Paimon tried to pull them up from their knees as the abyss mage laughed as it flew towards them. "Traveler come on. Please let Paimon help you"They started drifting in and out of conciseness and fell into the mud as the rain picked up. "Paimon run away." "No Paimon is not leaving you" She cried and kept trying to lift them up. A cold wind blew through the nearly empty field when a familiar voice spoke "EVIL CONQUERING". In a mere flash the abyss mage was dispersed into the gray dust with a cry of pain as the adeptis stood above them.
"You should have called out my name." He helped them sit up before pulling them into his arms and standing up. "I don't need your help" they tried to fight against him, only to wince as the pain became too much. Their consciousness started to drift in and out as Xiao's voice faded. "Traveler wake up...traveler...y/n...". When they finally awoke Paimon was asleep on their chest with a figure in the corner of the room. "Xiao?" They spoke quietly and attempted to sit up, only to be pushed back down. "You should rest. You are very badly injured. You fool, you should have called out my name." He glared at them, his yellow EYES...looking at them through the night of the room. Wangshu inn was a lot more quiet then usual as the adeptus walked towards the door.
"Xiao wait." He stopped, looking back at them. They waved him over and so he followed, kneeling down by their bedside. "Thank you, for saving me" they gave him a tired smile before slightly ruffling his hair. He sighed and stood up, looking over his shoulder to the sleeping traveler behind him. "If you awake to a knife at your throat, if monsters dig their claws into you, call out my name, Adeptis Xiao. I will be there when you call. I am your Adeptis and only yours." He leaned in before laying a small kiss on their forehead as they had done many times before. "Sleep well traveler"
