137 - The Dragonpit

Aemond can't help but fiddle with the knotting of the sling. How could this be enough to keep them safe while they are on the dragon's back. Aemond has Daenys wrapped in a sling against his chest, while Visenya has Laenor.

"Aemond, you don't need to worry so much," Visenya tells Aemond, taking his hand and running across it. "It is not good for you,"

"I'm not worried," Aemond defends, but as Visenya gives him a look, he knows there is no use lying. "What if Vhagar doesn't listen? What if she hurts them?"Visenya moves to hold Aemond face, giving him a reassuring smile.

"Aemond, you need to be more confident in the bond you two share," Visenya tells him. "Vhagar will listen to you so long as there is a bond, and there is one because she hasn't burnt you to a crisp yet,"

"Yet?" Aemond asks, knowing that Visenya is trying to make him less worried about the situation. "You wish for your husband to die by his dragon,"

"I wish for my husband never to die, to stay at my side forever so that we can watch our grow," Visenya tells him, and Aemond smiles at her words. "Vhagar will listen, and if you do not feel comfortable, then we can both ride Morghon,"

"I am not sure that he will be in good enough shape to have two riders," Aemond teases, and Visenya lets out a dramatic gasp. When Morghon had been staying in Kings Landing, he lost the weight he put on in the north, but Aemond stills liked to poke fun at the dragon's weight.

"I am gonna tell him you said that, and then you will have to watch from the ground as I ride off with our children," Visenya jokes and Aemond pulls Visenya to his side as they ride to the dragonpit.

Visenya fiddles with the sleeve of her shirt, forgoing the dresses she had worn the past nine months and returning to her usual dressing. Aemond couldn't help but admire Visenya before they left their room, finding the pants she was wearing rather tempting to forget about the day. Aemond was also happy when Visenya chose to wear one of the shirts he had gifted her, still the dark red as her other shirts, but instead of the raven embroidering, it was dragons.

Visenya is the first to get out as the carriage stops, looking around for Morghon. She had been told that he had stayed grounded as she neared labour. Visenya remembered hearing that dragons would feel their rider's pain when in labour, and part of her worries that Morghon had to feel what she felt. Visenya smiles as she sees Morghon. She takes Laenor out of the sling and hands him to Aemond to hold while she greets the dragon. Aemond takes their son as Visenya walks to her dragon; Aemond can't help but admire his wife as she walks away.

Visenya smiles as Morghon happily walks over to her, Visenya runs her hand up his snout, and the dragon lets out a cat-like purr. Visenya rests her head against him, and Morghon bumps his head into her.

Aemond gives the two a moment, and he knows that Visenya doesn't like being away from Morghon, so the reunion between the two is much needed.

Aemond takes a deep breath, holding the twins tightly as Visenya waves him over. Visenya continues talking to Morghon as Aemond gets closer, ensuring he doesn't sense her anxiousness. Visenya takes Laenor from Aemond and holds her close. Morghon watches her and sniffs the air.

Vhagar didn't end up showing up, so Aemond swallowed his nervousness and flew with Visenya to Morghon. The whole time he was nervous that Visenya would fall off the dragon, only holding onto the belt with one hand while her other held Laenor in the sling.
