CHAPTER 7

I was discharged that day but I spent two more days at home doing nothing. Ayaw akong payagan ni Kristoff, he was like a bodyguard and a nurse all at once. He was too delicate, too patient and calm, assisting me with everything I needed.

I talked to Christine, my secretary in Vegas. She shared the company's affairs and our projects status as well as my Mom. Next month, I am planning to go home. If it's okay, I would bring Kristoff with me.

I was looking at my side mirror, he's still tailing me. I shook my head, seryoso talaga siya sa sinabi niyang 'I won't let my guards down.' We are on the way to the hospital again, parang ang tagal na noong huli akong pumasok.

"Nurse Vien, welcome back!" Nurse Kaori greeted me when I got out of the car. She's with her cousin, Doctor Lopez, like always.

"Director good morning din!" She added but the man only nodded at her.

I smiled at them but I refused to talk, they were also quietly stalking us from behind.

"Call me when you suddenly felt—"

"I'm fine. Come on, I had enough rest, I can really work." I didn't let him finish, he looked at me before sighing deeply.

"Don't overwork." Ayan, ganiyan siya noong mga nagdaang araw. Daig niya pa ang mommy ko sa sobra niyang strikto.

"Yes po, Director, masunod." I beamed at him.

"Lavi, I'm serious." His forehead was knitted but despite the seriousness, I saw the playful face of the young man who used to steal pictures of me.

"Alright, Serious." He made a face and so I laughed. We went silent after that and when the elevator door opened, we left him. Nasa pinakataas na floor kasi ang opisina niya.

He was seriously looking at me, making my heart throb. Parang tanga naman.

"Galit yata, ano bang nangyari at hindi ka pumasok ng one week?" Nurse Kaori asked what I expected.

"I was admitted to Kennedy Medical Center." There was not a reason for me to lie nor hide what really happened, but, is he mad at me?

I'm not sure, I haven't seen him mad yet, maybe he's annoyed.

"Huh? Bakit?" I smiled at their chorus question but I refused to answer, nauna na rin akong lumakad papunta sa station namin.

"Nurse Vien welcome back!" Bati sa akin ni Doctor Balenciaga, isang malapad na ngiti naman ang isinagot ko sa kaniya.

"One week ka lang nawala bakit parang mas lalo kang gumanda?" Dagdag pa niya na tinawanan ko lang naman. Sa punto ko kasi ay matagal na naman akong maganda, baka siguro ay na-miss lang niya ako.

"Gano'n siguro yata talaga kapag nasa tamang tao na." Panunudyo ni Doctor Lopez sa akin pero tanging tawa lang ang naging kasagutan ko.

Although there was a different throb in my heart. His name isn't said but the effect of thinking of him being with me right now made me feel cloud nine. My cheeks heated.

"Doctor San Diego nandiyan na ba si Doc Legazpi?" Tanong ng isang medyo matanda ng Doctor, nagkatinginan naman kami bago sabay sabay na umiling. Napabuga naman ng hangin ang doctor bago napahawak sa sintido.

"Ano po bang mayro'n Doctor Maci?" Tanong ni Doctor Lopez.

"Kailangan na kasing maoperahan ni patient eleven," ani ng doctor, hindi kami gumagamit ng pangalan kapag ang mga pasyente ay VIP upang mapanatili ang pagiging confidential ng kanilang identity,

Nasa code iyon ng hospital namin, madalas din kasi na mga pilitiko at negosyante ang mga VIP namin kaya mas kailangan naming mag-ingat.

"Wala na tayong available dahil nasa seminars ang iba tapos yung iba naka-leave yung nandito naman, nasa OR na. Bakit kasi nagkasabay sabay pa?" Problemadong sambit ng doktor.
