CHAPTER 9
I fell asleep from weeping, hoping it could wash away the pain but when I woke up, due to a soft wet thing that touched my face, it was still there. I slowly opened my lid and saw my husband's serious face staring into mine.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." His voice was like music to my ears, I gulped when a new batch of tears fell from my eyes. He was panicking when he used a new handkerchief to wipe the liquid off of my face.
"Hush now, you're safe. . ."
I rose from the bed and clung to his nape, he immediately wrapped his arms around my back to support me. I buried my face on the crook of his neck as I straddled him. He was busy telling me sweet things to hush me down until I finally calmed down.
Carefully, he stood up so he could properly put me to bed. He laid down beside me since I don't have any plans of letting him go. I made his arm my pillow as I pressed my body against his chest. His hand was carefully caressing my back. Exhaustion from what happened reigned through me until the darkness ate me.
I woke up with a headache the following day. I looked beside me and found the pillows properly arranged. I smiled, I looked like a baby. It is still dark outside, I wondered, what time did he wake up?
I closed my left eye as I slowly walk towards my bathroom. After having a cold shower I went downstairs. Papasok na sana ako sa kusina nang makita ko ang dalawang lalaki sa sala.
So he went down after I fell asleep? I smiled before nearing him. He was sound asleep as well as his adoptive brother. I crouched on him before placing a soft kiss on the tip of his nose like how he does it.
I went to the kitchen where I saw Kristoff's mom, well, my mother-in-law. She's cooking. I was about to call the house helpers to do their job when I realized that they are on a week's leave. I bowed my head a bit before I greeted her formally.
"Good morning din, masakit ba ang ulo mo? Inumin mo ito para mabawasan." She offered me a glass of honey water and I accepted it shyly. I didn't know her name yet and last night's encounter was a fucking disaster.
"Uh, I am sorry about last night," I shyly stated.
"No need to apologize to me anak, I'm actually the one who should apologize kasi nahuli kami ng dating." She reached for my hands. I was a little taken aback of what she did but her eyes comforted me, telling me it was safe to let her hold me.
After what happened last night, I feel like everyone who would try to touch me will also hurt me.
"Anyway I'm Mommy Antoinette but Mom na lang for short." She added, smiling widely.
"I'm Lavienne po, again, I'm so sorry." I introduced myself but she replied with a warm laugh.
"I now know the reason why my son fell for you."
My forehead creased as I watched my mother-in-law's back. What does she mean?
I offered her help but she refused, telling me I should just rest. And even if she allowed me, I don't think I can actually help her. I was just there sitting on the high chair watching her cook for almost half an hour.
"Pwede bang pakitawag na sila anak?" I smiled and affirmed with her gleefully. Finally! I could go away, her presence made me too conscious of what I just did last night.
I went upstairs and knocked on the door adjacent to my husband's. That's the only vacant room on the second floor, the other was his office and a room I wasn't able to enter. Logan smiled at me when he opened the door.
"Pababa na sis, thank you. Logan nga pala." He said before extending his hand.
"Lavienne, the food is served," I shook his hand.
