I STARTED unloading my boxes from the moving truck, careful not to break anything. my older brother, isaac, was talking to scotty and his mom. we moved right next to scotty. he had moved here last year, but since my mom was struggling financially we had to wait another year. scotty & i have always been close, always hanging out when we were younger.

i started walking towards the house, waving at scotty & his mom. as i entered the house i noticed my mom was already halfway done, placing plants on the kitchen windowsill.

"honey, after you're done could you call isaac to come help?" she asked.

"yeah, he's talking to scotty & his mom right now" i replied, walking upstairs.

i had already called dibs on the 2nd biggest room, my mom having the master. my room had a bathroom, and a window seat. it was pretty big. i sighed, plopping the box on the floor. i realized i had to carry a bunch of boxes upstairs for the next hour. i walked out of my room & downstairs. isaac had already came in, carrying a box.

"your finally done, now you can help me" i said, opening the door and walking outside. isaac sighed and followed me.

"hey ally" scotty said, walking towards me.

"hey scotty" i smiled. "how's life?" i asked as they both followed me to the truck.

"it's great! i've made a bunch of friends and i even learned how to play baseball" he smiled.

"that's good, maybe we can play after im done" i replied.

"i can help if you want" he suggested.

"sure, thank you" i replied.

after we got most of my boxes inside the room, me and scotty decided to take a break. he told me all about last summer and how crazy it was.

"maybe you can play with us too" he smiled.

"i don't know.. they were mean to you so they'll most likely not want me playing with you guys" i replied.

"but your actually good at baseball! and benny is super nice. i'm pretty sure he wouldn't let them be all mean to you anyway" he said.

"i'll think about it" i sighed.

it did sound fun playing with all of them, but i would be the only girl and it would probably be super awkward. but then again, i did want to make friends before school, and it would be even better because i love baseball.

"hey scotty, why did you never ask me to teach you how to play?" i asked, turning my gaze towards him.

"i don't know. i guess i started getting into it right before we moved" he replied. i nodded my head, laying down on the carpet.

"i really don't feel like unpacking" i sighed.

"yeah, it's the worst. but it doesn't take too long" he said. then there was a knock on my door, and before we could reply it opened.

"dinners ready" isaac said. me and scotty got up from the floor and headed downstairs. my mom was talking with scotty's mom while isaac sat at the table.

"okay, i'll see you tomorrow" my mom said, hugging scotty's mom.

"bye scotty, see ya" i said. they both left and i sat down at the table.

"before you two do anything tomorrow, i want you to unpack 4 boxes." my mom said. isaac groaned.

"okay, can i also hangout with scotty tomorrow?"

"aslong as you unpack. then you can do whatever you want" she replied.

the rest of dinner we talked about random things. when i finished, i got up and washed my plate. isaac followed behind me and i could tell something was off.

"what's wrong?" i asked him.

"it's nothing" he responded, barley loud enough for me to hear him.

"isaac, i know when something's wrong with you. you can always tell me" i frowned. he stared for a couple seconds, then he sighed and finally let in.

"fine. it's carmen. i think she's cheating on me" he sighed. i immediately felt bad for pushing him to say it. i never really liked carmen. she was always really snobby.

"isaac, this has been going on for way too long now. you need to tell her something" i said quietly. he nodded.

"it's hard. i love her so much"

i pulled him into a hug. we were always there for eachother, no matter what. i always hated seeing him sad because it made me sad too. he's always a happy person, so he's never sad unless something's really bugging him.

"thanks" he said, pulling away. i nodded and smiled.

"i'm gonna head to my room now, love you" he smiled.

"love you too"

i said goodnight to my mom and headed upstairs. isaac & scotty helped me set up my bed earlier so i wouldn't have to worry about it. i decided to take a quick shower before sleeping. i opened my backpack and gathered all the stuff i needed, then i set it on the bathroom counter and started the shower. i walked to my dresser & grabbed a oversized t-shirt & striped pajama pants.

i hopped into the shower, already feeling relaxed. i had nothing on my mind but scotty's friends and carmen. i was kinda nervous for tomorrow, hoping that scotty's friends would except me so i could make some new friends. isaac's car was also supposed to arrive in a few days, and he promised he would take me to the mall since scotty told me all about how big it was.

after the shower, i brushed my hair & teeth. i put my dirty clothes in the empty hamper and turned on the tv. i decided to finish season 3 of big mouth. i loved that show so much, even if i wasn't really old enough to watch it yet. it's not like i didn't understand it anyway. i slowly started drifting to sleep, thinking about how the next day would go.
