it had been two days since the fight, and i haven't got out of my bed since.

there was a faint knock on the door, but i didn't have enough energy to get up or say anything. a couple seconds later isaac entered the room.

"ally, you haven't been downstairs in two days. when's the last time you ate?" he asked. i stood silent.

"cmon, im taking you somewhere" he said. i hesitated for a few seconds before getting up and walking to the bathroom. i looked like a mess. my eyebags were huge and my hair was tangled. i brushed through my hair and threw it in a ponytail.

after brushing my teeth, i changed and walked downstairs. isaac sat at the counter with his keys.

"what time is it?" i asked.

"8:01" he replied. i sighed. that was the time benny and scotty usually met up and started walking to the sandlot.

"okay, let's go" i said, walking towards the door and opening it for him. he walked outside and i followed behind him.

thankfully i didn't see benny, but scotty was walking all by himself. i felt bad. i haven't talked to anyone since benny & i had fought, and i knew the boys would be mad at me too.

i sat in the passenger side of isaac's car. he played a random rap song while i stared out the window.

soon after, we arrived at this small bookstore.

"this is where you wanted to take me?" i asked him. i wasn't complaining, but i expected it to be more special.

"just cmon" he said, getting out of the car. i followed behind him.

we entered the bookstore, and it was actually pretty nice.

i noticed the outsiders sitting on a shelf."i want this one" i said, grabbing the book.

"we're not here to buy anything dummy" he said. i sighed and placed the book back on its shelf.

"then why are we here?" i asked, getting impatient.

"you'll see, just calm down" he said. i followed him to the back of the store.

he stopped abruptly, quickly turning around and facing me.

"you know how mom always said she would hangout at this one bookstore by her old school? well this is it" he smiled. i admired the store.

i didn't say anything, i just reached forward and hugged him. even when i felt horrible, isaac always knew what i needed and how to cheer me up. i was so thankful for him.

"thank you" i whispered. he held me tighter.
"let's go get something to eat now" he said, pulling away. i nodded and we headed out the store.

we ended up getting in-n-out. we sat at the booth, waiting for our order to be called.

"have you seen scotty lately?" he asked.

"no, not since wednesday" i sighed.

"what happened?" he asked.

"i did something stupid. i don't even know if i'm still with benny" i spoke softly. mentioning his name hurt a little.

"don't say that. i know you two love each other too much" he said. i played with my straw.

"listen, whenever something happens all you gotta do is apologize. i know it's obvious and stupid, but when your in that situation it seems impossible." he said. i nodded.

soon after, the worker called our order and isaac went to go get it. i scrolled on tiktok.

"hey, i didn't expect to see you here"
i looked up, and one of the last people i wanted to see was here.

i sighed. "look, i need to talk to you outside" i said, getting up and walking towards the door. phillips followed behind me.

"what's up?" he asked.

"this is hard to do you know, since your a nice guy and you've helped me even though i've only known you for a month. i'm sorry but we can't be friends anymore. it's not you i promise" i sighed.

"oh" he said. i felt so bad, he looked heartbroken.

"i'm sorry okay, maybe we can be friends again in the future" i said. he nodded.

i leaned forward and gave him a hug. he didn't even hug back. i let go and smiled at him before walking back into the restaurant.

isaac sat at the booth on his phone. i walked up and sat down.

"what was that about?" he asked, plopping a fry into his mouth.

i shook my head. "nothing" i said. he continued eating and i watched phillips walk away.
