Chapter song: ZITTI E BUONI- Måneskin

I stood next to my hammock, preparing myself for the task ahead of us. I tightly strapped my gun into my holster and my machete onto my back, tying my h/c hair back into a messy bun, leaving no strands free,
"You ready?" Newt asked, approaching me and I tied my laces into double knots, pulling them as tightly as possible,
"Yeah, I actually have a pretty good feeling about this whole thing, just be careful okay? We can't afford to loose anyone else" I told him as we began to make our way to the others. Newt was getting a lift with Brenda and Jorge to his position whilst I was riding with Thomas and Vince in a different car,
"Don't worry, you're not going to loose me" He smiled,
"You promise?" I asked, causing the boy to look at me strangely, I suppose I don't usually show this side of me,
"I promise." I stuck out his pinkie, I looked down at it for a second before curving my lips into a smile, taking it with mine, shaking it before letting go,
"I'll see you there then" I said, pulling myself up onto the back of the car, Vince and Thomas were already sat waiting for me.

The roads were rocky and bumpy, but I didn't care all too much. Grabbing the frame of the car with my left hand and hanging off the side of the car, allowing my right hand to be pushed around by the dusty wind which weaved through my fingers and hair. As the car jumped over a hill I could see it, the tracks, and more importantly the train. I swung back into the car, holding on with both hands as we began to speed up. Thomas looked back at me, flashing some sort of smile I couldn't quite name, maybe reassurance, but I didn't need that, the plan was going to work. I put out my hand, pulling Thomas into the back with me, holding onto the frame with one hand and his arm with the other, ensuring he didn't fall of as he grabbed the hook, waiting to get close enough to the back of the train,
"Put the pedal down Vince, we gotta get closer!" I shouted back, who grimaced before doing so, giving us the acceleration we needed,
"This is crazy guys" He informed us, but we already knew that. everything about this was crazy, which is why it would work. Thomas hooked the train, taking no time to jump onto the train, gesturing to me to follow him. I took a second before jumping, Thomas grabbed me as I jumped, pulling me towards him, smiling slightly as I landed,
"Come on Vince!" I encouraged, watching as the tire fell completely off with the friction from the tracks,
"you have to jump!" Thomas shouted and the man looked at us dumbfoundedly. I honestly don't think he would've jumped if the car didn't explode. As the fire began he launched himself towards us at the last second. Me and Thomas grabbed onto him, pulling him up to his feet. We stood there for a second in silence, just catching our breath.
"Shit... Berg" Vince informed us, pointing to a huge plane kind of thing in the sky, like the one Wicked had the day they took Minho.
"hey Brenda, you got company" Thomas pulled the walkie up to his mouth, talking into it. I could see their car in the distance, leaving a cloudy trail of dust behind them as Brenda propped herself up, reloading her sniper.
"You guys are on your own!" Brenda's voice rang out through the walkie and I watched as the car took a sharp turn, the berg following closely.
"We should go" I said, taking the gun from my holster, gesturing forwards, we had to break up the train before anyone got to us.

As we were running over the tops of the train, it hit me how close we actually were to him, he could've been in any of these carriages. A group of seven soldiers could be seen running towards us and I could see Thomas hesitating, slowing down,
"Don't stop Tommy, just get them separated, I'll deal with them" I told him as he jumped down a level, handing Vince a bag of explosives. Crouching down, I took my focus back onto the soldiers, who were beginning to shoot. I turned the safety off, aiming in, it took a couple shots for me to get it right but after shooting down two, Vince voice rung out,
"Take cover!" I didn't really have any cover on top of the carriage but I took a couple quick steps back, covering my eyes as the explosion went off, pulling our half of the train to a very sudden stop.

I took my hands which were covering my ears and opened my eyes. The other half was still moving, growing small by the distance. I stood up slowly,
"Whoo!" I shouted, jumping down to Thomas who whistled the others out.
"Hey Newt" I greeted, waving at the boy as he approached me. I looked back at Thomas, banging on the train, trying to find Minho,
"Good job back there, give me time" He said, patting my shoulder before running over to Thomas, who pointed them to a carriage.
"It's gonna be close" Vince said as me and Tommy joined him, watching as more soldiers began running towards us from the, now stationary, train.
"Then lets make sure it isn't" I said, once again taking my pistol, holding up and shooting, Thomas doing the same. Vince paused for a second before doing it. We had taken down most of the and a shout from Newt was enough to tell us they were done. The second we stopped shooting the soldiers began running towards us again, reloading their guns in the process. They were gaining on us quickly, and with Brenda not in sight, I began to think we hadn't done enough.

I paused for a moment, trying to see if I could get myself to an advantage point,
"Y/n what the hell? Keep shooting!" Thomas shouted at me, glancing back as I ran towards Newt, who was finishing off on the container. He shot me a confused look but I ignored it, pulling myself up the ladder onto the roof, laying down on the edge, pulling me gun back out and continuing to shoot. It was a lot better up here, easier to aim and safer from getting shot. I continued shooting, covering for the others as the climbed on top of the container, waiting for the berg to appear to take us away,
"Come on..." I mumbled, glancing back at the horizon... nothing.
"Wait, there!" I heard Thomas yell, I glanced back to see the berg approaching us, the soldiers held their fire for a moment, thinking they had won before the hook dropped. Newt grabbed onto it, pulling it around the rope which held the container up. At this point, we were being shot at again, but nobody cared. Vince jumped onto the ladder as we began to get lifted up and away, cheers were shared between the group as the soldiers gave up on shooting us, standing in defeat as they became smaller and smaller.
"We actually did it" Newt said, a happy smile crossing his face as he went to hug me, pausing momentarily, I looked at him for a second before hugging him, pushing the uncomfortable feeling the hug greeted me with away, embracing it instead before pushing him back, smiling ever so slightly at him but turning away.
