Chapter song: Watching him fade away- Mac DeMarco

I hadn't completely realised we were in the actual city at first, we were running so fast to get somewhere less busy, it just didn't hit me. I spun in circles as we stood at the stood of a staircase, leading down onto another street,
"Fifteen minutes to mandatory curfew" I smiled to myself as a women's voice rung out on speakers, scattered around the city. A tube like train rushed past above us, glowing a light blue on the rails.
"Holy shit.." I muttered, finally able to take everything in. sure I had been in a city before but nothing like this. It's a shame the people who ran it were complete knobheads, otherwise I would say it's incredible.
"Look, I know it's hard, but just try act like you've seen it before" Gally said and I nodded in reply, taking my eyes off the city, focusing at the matter at hand. We continued running across roads and streets, trying to make our way through the city as quickly as possible,
"Wait" I whispered, causing the boys to stop. I pulled my body tightly to a wall, gesturing for the boys to copy, which they did. A second later, a patrol car shot past us, continuing down the main road,
"They've definitely upped security," Gally confirmed, "Guess you shanks have something to do with that" He looked between the three of us,
"Something like that" I agreed, smiling at the boys before Gally lead the way once more until we finally reached the edge of the city.

The climb up wasn't too big and as Gally prepped to give me a leg up, I took a couple steps back, running full speed before jumping up the wall, grabbing onto the ledge and pulling myself up. I looked down at Gally who's face was left with an empty expression, a shocked one I suppose.
"Uh.. okay.. Newt you're up" He stuttered. Newt did need Gally's help, and after grabbing onto the ledge, I pulled the boy up, who began coughing once he stood upright,
"You okay?" I asked as I watched Thomas try to copy me, succeeding, but looking so much sloppier,
"Yeah I'm fine" Newt dismissed, although it wasn't exactly convincing.  I looked down at Gally, lowering my hand down the wall as he ran at it, grabbing onto my hand, allowing me to help pull him up,
"Thanks" He acknowledged, smiling at me as I returned it. We climbed up a couple ladders until we were a good hundred feet up or so when Gally stopped us at some sort of platform; a telescope was already set up.
"There it is. If Wicked has Minho, that's where they'll be keeping him" Gally gestured at a huge building, sticking out from the others with more blue lights, running up the sides of the building until they joined at the top of the building, which was a huge spike.
"I thought you said you had a way in?" Thomas asked, cutting straight to the point,
"I might" Gally corrected, which set off Thomas once more. If he wasn't immune, I'd be half convinced he was about to crank out.
"You might? What the hell do you mean you might?" Thomas yelled. Newt put his hand out, pushing Thomas back, trying to calm him down as Gally readjusted the telescope
"Take a look" He instructed, stepping away from the lens, which was pointing in a slightly different direction. Thomas shuffled forward, bending down with one hand on top, he looked in. He stared blankly for a couple seconds before looking back up, a very unimpressed expression on his face,
"I said I had a way in. I didn't say you would like it" Gally said. I looked at Newt, he was just confused as me.
"Wha- what is it?" I whispered, moving towards the telescope,
"It's Teresa" Gally said out loud before I reached the scope,
"Oh!" Newt said and I stifled a laugh. Thomas still looked extremely unhappy to be in this situation.

"No, There's gotta be another way" Thomas shook his head. I rubbed my hands on my face, groaning out loud this time, not caring what anyone thought. We had been having the same discussion for the past 15 minutes. Thomas was just being too stubborn.
"Like what? You've seen the building, she is our only way in" Gally defended, he was right. I sat next to Gally and Brenda, my elbows propping my hands up as I held my head in my hands, I was starting to get a headache.
"You really think she's gonna help us?" Thomas asked, trying to find a singular flaw in our plan.
"I don't think we plan on asking for her permission" I groaned, praying Thomas would just give up at this point. Gally nodded, pointing at me in agreement,
"Am I missing something here?" Brenda chimed in, "This is the same girl who betrayed us, correct? Same dick?"
"I like her" Gally muttered to me and I nodded,
"What's going on?" Brenda asked Thomas, her voice finally softening. That's when it happened.
"What, are you afraid your little girlfriends gonna get hurt? Hmm?" Newt pushed his chair out, standing up, slowly approaching Thomas. Anger was laced in his voice and face like I had never seen. It didn't even looked like him and I'm fairly sure that whoever was talking, wasn't newt.
"Because this has obviously never been just about rescuing Minho. Has it?" Newt continued to approach Thomas and nobody interfered, maybe they were too scared, too worried about what was happened,
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Thomas dismissed, he sounded like he was basically whispering compared to how loudly Newt was talking,
"Teresa. She's the only reason that Minho's even missing in the first place. Now we finally have an opportunity to get him back. And what? You don't want to because of her? Because deep down, you still care about her don't you?" Newt had backed Thomas into a corner now, who looked confused and hurt all at the same time,
"Newt I-" Thomas began saying but Newt cut him off but shouting. Full blown, raise his voice, I'm furious shouting,
"DON'T LIE TO ME!" he pushed Thomas into a wall, "Don't lie to me!" He repeated, a tiny bit quieter now. I stepped forward, grabbing onto the boy, pulling him back, away from Thomas.
"That's enough." I said sternly, putting my hand out, separating the boy from the rest of us. I watched as something changed in him. Like all the anger and emotions got pulled out of him,
"Sorry... I'm sorry" He mumbled, looking at me, then Thomas before turning on his heels, walking straight out the room, up some stairs towards the roof.

The room was silent for a moment, nobody made a sound. That's until Thomas moved, making his way towards the door but I stepped in front of it, blocking the way
"Let me through y/n. I have to talk to him" He told me but I shook my head,
"Tommy.." I muttered, placing my hand on his chest, pushing him gently away, "I think you've done enough mate. Give me a minute first" He looked like he was contemplating something for a second but he sighed, giving up. I watched as he slumped down in a chair, resting his head on a hand, sighing again, avoiding the gaze of everyone else, who seemed to be looking at him or me. I turned on my heels. Taking in a deep breath before running up after the boy, preparing myself for a very hard conversation.
