A Second Chance

I am not sure how. But one moment I am sleeping in a warm bed. The next I am running from a pack of wolves as we escape. The painful howl I had heard when we had first escaped had long died down.

Deep in my heart I felt deep regret and sorrow. A part of me wanted to go back. To turn around and go running into his arms. But the other half was making my feet going faster. I don't know what I was doing. I was on automatic mode. I could hear the wolves coming closer and closer.

"Come on Rose!" Louie yelled with a grin on his face. "Just a little longer and we will be on hunter territory."

"Explain to me again how you escaped?"

"Like I said....magic." Louie said running out of breath.

"That doesn't answer my question!" I hissed gasped.

"A wizard never reveals his secrets!" He laughed.

"You are still a pain in the as-"

"And here we are!" Louie called and suddenly stopped and grabbed me.

"What are you doing? If you had forgotten we are currently being chanced be werewolves!" I cried tugging on my hand.

"Hey dumb dumb look!" He laughed pointing towards where we had come from.

There stood a line of about twenty or more wolves growling and hissing.

"What you stopped me to look at wolves that want to kill you?"

"Oh they can't do anything. We are off their territory. If they step one step further they will ...well it wouldn't be good for them." Louie grinned.

"You sound like you want them to cross that line." I said looking at them.

"It doesn't matter if they cross the line or not." He said. "I'll kill them anyway."

I just stared at him. I had never seen this part of Louie. It scares me a little. We stood there for a while staring at the wolves who were soon joined by a much larger wolf I guessed as Alpha was Ayyan. Every single one of the wolves especially Ayyan was begging me to come back across the line. But...I didn't.

"Come on Rose." Louie said. "Let's go. I know some people that would be happy to see you."

Louie then grabbed my hand. I then heard a very loud growl coming from Ayyan's wolf. He was glaring at our join hands with murderer in his eyes. Louie ignored him and just dragged me through the bushes and trees until I could no longer see Ayyan. At that moment I felt my heart rip into a million pieces.  I felt numb. This pain with disappear with time....right?

"And here we are." Louie said as we reached what I could only describe as a tent town.

"So...this is where you really live?" I asked.

He laughed. "Not all the time. We live in the house you have seen. But we live her most of the time. Hunting."

"Do you really kill werewolves, Louie?" I asked.

"They kill us Rose. They are monsters. They kill us and other innocent people." Louie said placing his hands on my shoulders. "You must understand."

"But...what if...what if not all werewolves are evil?"

"They are...you will learn."

"Learn?"

"Yes, I am going to teach you how to become a Hunter." He grinned.
