Phoebe's POV

I closed the door of Michael's bathroom and turned on a light, looking at myself in the small mirror.

Someone had been in my house.

But why?

Why would they do that? Why did they cut my electric?

I shook my head, and hoped that it was just a prank that some kids were playing and I made a mental note that I had to phone someone in the morning to get the lights fixed.

I went to the toilet and then washed my hands, looking at myself in the mirror. I tucked pieces of my blonde hair behind my ear and I sighed, opening the bathroom door and I saw Michael walking down the corridor towards me.

"Hey." He said, motioning me to follow him into the kitchen. He turned on the lights in the hallway, which brightened up the dim space, which made me feel more at ease.

"Are you okay?" He said, pausing at the kitchen door and I nodded, licking my lips, giving him a small smile.

"Thank you for coming to check that for me, and for letting me stay the night here... I appreciate it." I said and he smiled, shaking his head.

"Don't mention it, it's nothing." He said and he opened the door of the kitchen and I saw a boy and a girl sitting at the kitchen island, the boy with his arms wrapped around the girl. The boy had tanned skin, dark hair and dark eyes and the girl had long dark hair and was absolutely gorgeous.

I suddenly felt self-conscious and I swallowed as Michael started to talk.

"Guys, this is Phoebe... ummm, I'm gonna let her stay the night, I think it will be better and safer for her. Phoebe, this is Calum and Annie, Calum and Annie, this is Phoebe." He said and they gave me friendly 'hellos' which I returned.

"Calum, can I talk to you for a second?" Michael said and Calum nodded, following him out the door, giving me a smile as he walked past me.

That left me and Annie in the kitchen.

"Hey!" Annie said, happily, pulling one of the stools out at the kitchen island, patting it.

"There's a few slices of pizza left, you better take some now before Michael comes back." She laughed and I smiled, sitting beside her. I reached forward, grabbing some pizza out of the box, and Annie handed me a plate.

"Have you and Michael known eachother long?" She asked and I coughed, swallowing and taking a bite of the pizza.

"Maybe as long as we have been living next to eachother. But we haven't really talked." I said, and Annie took a drink out of a plastic cup and I had a feeling it wasn't a soft drink.

"Why not?" She asked and I shrugged, taking another bite of pizza.

"I don't know... my parents are business representatives, so they are never at home, I'm always busy with schoolwork and my boyfriend is... was always about." I said and Annie nodded, flicking some of her dark hair behind her shoulder.

"So you're kind of a lone ranger, huh?" She said and I sat back and thought about it.

To be honest, I was. I didn't have many friends, apart from my boyfriend and now he was gone... yeah I guess I was a lone ranger, as Annie so politely put it.

"Yeah." I said, quietly, "my boyfriend was all I really had in like a form of friends... in school, I don't really have any because I just am focused in school, I get almost perfect grades and I..." I shook my head and put a hand against my forehead.

"You know what you need to do?" She said and she slid her cup over to me and I raised my eyebrow and she laughed.

"It makes you let go." She said, getting up and walking around to the other side of the kitchen island and pouring herself another drink.

I raised the cup to my lips, taking a gulp, grimacing as the unfamiliar liquid burned my throat.

"It gets better, trust me." She said and I laughed and she drew her finger along the rim of the glass.

"This may sound rude, but it's not, trust me." She said, taking a gulp of her drink, "Why are you here? I saw you and then Michael left..." I said and I nodded, licking my lips once.

"No, it's okay... my electrics went out and when Michael came over, he saw that someone had cut the electric wires." I said and Annie's eyes went wide.

"Someone had cut your electric off?" She said and I nodded.

"Yeah." I whispered and she swallowed.

"It's probably better you're staying here tonight... you will be safe with Michael." She said and I nodded and then the kitchen door opened and Michael and Calum came back in.

"I'm heading to the basement, you coming, Annie?" Calum said and Annie nodded, smiling and squeezing my hand before she left.

"See you down there, Phoebe." She said and I nodded and Michael came over towards me, looking at the box of pizza and smiling when he gabbed a slice.

"Calum and I found an electrician, who can fix your electrics in the morning." He said, with a mouthful of pizza and I nodded, thanking him and he smiled.

Michael moved a stool out and sat beside me, and looked at my cup of drink Annie gave me. He smirked and looked at me and I shook my head.

"Ummmm... it's not really my thing." I said and he laughed, moving the cup aside.

"If you don't want to drink, don't feel pressured to, Annie can be quite convincing sometimes." He said and I smiled, moving the cup aside.

There was an awkward silence between the both of us for a second and then I spoke up.

"Are you okay, Michael? You look a little pale." I said and Michael shook his head, taking a note out of his pocket and showing it to me.

Michael was invited to a party.

"Very nice." I said and my eyes stopped moving when I read over 'Fulton Estate'.

"Hey," He said, touching my hand when I froze and I shook my head, giving his note back to him.

"It's nothing." I said and Michael pursed his lips, obviously not believing me, stuffing the note back into his pocket.

"Come on to the basement, I'll introduce you to the others," He said and we got up, Michael grabbing another slice of pizza before leaving and turning off the lights.

Michael was about to open the basement door, when I closed my eyes and spoke up.

"Alex Fulton." I said and Michael turned around and raised his eyebrows.

"What?" He said and I swallowed, shaking my head.

"The Fulton Estate... my ex boyfriend was called Alex Fulton." I said, crossing my arms, "his parents are beyond rich, that's the estate where he lives and that's where your party will be."
